Leaves in the gutters

This has probably been covered before but I’ve not doubt that the weather will break soon and it will start lashing it down once more!

I’ve noticed a rattle recently that I’d previously traced to leaf build up in the scuttle area and when investigating at the weekend I was surprised to see it’s much worse this time. Using a vacuum with crevice attachment I’ve removed a full bags worth of leaf build up, enough I imagine to cause a blockage and bearing in mind there’s all sorts of electrical stuff in this region it could be an expensive repair.

Unlike the previous e9x it’s a nightmare to remove and quite difficult to spot, so word of advice, take a look and make sure your gutters are clear!

Sorry if this is in the wrong section or not useful. Was just hoping that it might help someone avoid a problem.

Seems like good advice to me. The mesh at the bottom of the scuttle is better designed than some ( being domed upwards and of a coarse mesh ), but would eventually be overcome with leaves. Amazing how they can find their way down there with so much in the way.

I live in a house with huge trees, and alas they drop pine needles, cones, you name it, that shit rains down on the car. My previous f10 and f11 used to have a serious issue with drainage channels blocking with leaves by the bulkhead which killed electrics on those not aware to the issue, however, the 4 GC I now have seems to have many little books and crannies (the wiper recesses for the LHD cars for example) which have no drain holes for water? There are areas where they can fall down do they block these too? Getting rid of my f10 5 series cars I would have thoughts not to have this issue again!
