About the location.

14 July 2010: at the Ascari circuit Chris Harris unexpectedly gets invited on board of a 1M test mule with Frank Isenberg behind the wheel (who was deeply involved in developing the 1M and M2).

The entire reason for making the 1M was to create a " boy racer " ala the E30 M3. A car that is the " right size for an M car " per Chris Harris ... and.. to make the car affordable to a new and younger group of drivers.

I fear that the plot has been lost since then.

BMW has listened to all the whiners that complained about the M2.. added in all the features of the M4.. and created a slightly less expensive M4 that really doesn't have much differentiation from the M4 itself.

The M2 competition is a great car , but it's no longer the performance bargain that the 1M and the OG M2 are.

At 59k for the M2 competition .. it is the same price as what the E92 M3 was. And the 1M was 46k.

In the span of 7 years.. we've gone right back to being at 60K for an M car in the US.

Only thing that sucks is most buyers won't flog a new car (can't blame them). More pics and walk around vids of the car are nice and all, but what everyone is really anxious to see is the M2c shredding tires and laying down lap times! Get on with it already!

Are their any good and honest reviewers left?Everyone is simply going to regurgitate what the other guy says. I would avoid the youtubers who have vested interest in selling the car and who have close relations with bmw - they pretty much get free cars, especially when they do all the review on the street and put silly laptimes on the track.

The best ones are always the long term reviews by the owners themselves - remember, none of the original M2 reviews pointed out issues about the cluster visibility or braking issues on the track after a few laps.

I just wanna hear what Chris Harris, Jason Camisa and Jeremy Clarkson have to say about the M2 Competition.

Always liked their reviews.

Agree. Clarkson will tell it like it is.

Also agree YouTube content is on a whole going to be worthless.

I doubt Clarkson will go another review for M2. Remember, grand tour tries to attract non car enthusiasts all over the world. M2 competition will essentially be another M2 for average joe.

Oh, adding to list of things that reviewers didn't point out - lack of camber adjustments. It's appalling that an M car doesn't have it. Heck, even a Miata had one straight out of the factory. But, none of the reviewers are going to point it out. Maybe an average M car owner doesn't care?

UnLike the manual transmission which has survived .. that has been phased out over the years. and yes , it's because enough enthusiasts didn't notice .. they were more focused on M seats ...M mirrors .. drag strip times ... and faster gear changes ...

The average M car owner did care back in the days of E30, E36 , E46 years and maybe even up to the 1 series ,,, but the bigger the 3 got , the more it's become a luxury GT car, especially once it got to be an E9x with a V8.

All F8X are luxury GT cars more than performance cars with the exception of the M4 GTS. The Miata of course , has never tried to be a luxury car ... the RX-8... which would be a competitor for an M2... as sublime as it was, has been cancelled long ago.

BMW owners that autocross have noticed these adjustments disappearing all the while , as even the cars listed above had only front camber adjustment... adding camber adjustment to BMWs as well as coilover suspensions was the first steps to improving them... and of course BMWs in SCCA have forever struggled against cars that have camber adjustment built in. Even worse.. nearly every German competitor has more adjustment (except Mercedes ).

The M2 Perfomance Edition of just 150 cars did come with a suspension setup that has more adjustment.

There are a few of us hard core owners though, and Fortunately it sounds like an M2 racing might be coming along which might help in terms of any M2 Further progress or special editions.. but to be honest ... the average M2 buyer cares more about glossy carbon fiber .. why isn't it that way on the dash .. and why isn't it on the roof ??

So yes... the average M car owner of the 2010s cares less seemingly about how their M car gets down the road , just as long as it's got a 6 cylinder motor with an S designation ...
