Replacement D1S 6000K xenons

A few times now people have said to me... 'Are those Xenons on your car or just ordinary halogens?' I have to admit that they do not look as good as the ones on my old E46.

Does anyone else think that the E92 xenon lights are a bit yellow looking? I know that I am always a bit dissappointed with the xenons when I see a coupe coming towards me.

So.....

I have just ordered a set of 6000K xenon bulbs from German Ebay to upgrade the 4300K ones in the car. I got them for £90 delivered.

Hopefully they will match up nicely with the upgraded DRL's and fogs.

I will show you the pics of the difference when I install them.

Agree, 6000k bulbs are probably just about right, particularly if you are matching with the GP Thunders

although i don't own an e90 yet, i can clearly say that the xenons look yellowish compared to others; changing to 6000k will definitely be an improvement
please keep us updated

can you post a link of the ebay product you've ordered?

How easy is it to replace a xenon bulb on the E92?

Can it be done like the GP Thunder with access to the bulbs in the engine bay or is it like the E90 and you can only access through the wheel arches?

Hi Guys,

One of the things we have not got round to mentioning is that we are a distributer of HID kits.

We are willing to send out a free set of D1S 6000k for someone to test on their car.

If the results are satisfactory (we are confident they will be) we will offer them to forum members at a very reasonable cost.

^ I don't know. Dead easy to change on the e46 but I've never tried on an e92. I'm hoping it's a straightforward job (?)

In the post above, big pimp says you install through the wheel arch like on the E90 and not like the E46 via the engine bay

So I'm trying to fathom how easy it is via the wheel arch. Is access easy, does the car need to be jacked up or possibly take the front wheels off?

I will be jacking the car up and removing the wheel and mudguard to install them. I want to have proper access to make sure that they are installed correctly. It would be very easy to touch the bulb glass or break something otherwise. There are only a few bolts holding the mudguard anyway.

I will replace the H11 fog's while I am at it.

And now the scary question after I have already bought mine..........

Hi Sal, How much cheaper that £80 can you sell them for?

^^ Yes, although probably not too noticeable. 6K is the maximum I would recommend.

Correct, 6000k will be a little bit bluer but not much difference in light output.

8000k are very blue and crap light output
