New to coding ... few questions

so I just purchase a 2012 528i with 44k miles and I have been reading that you can code your BMW for additional features. I just order the Veepeak OBDCheck BLE Bluetooth 4.0 OBD2 Scanner and will be purchasing the codes from BimmerCode. I have never done this before so as long as I just use the codes I purchase is there any chance I can screw up the ECU? what if I accidentally program something my car isn't equipped with? will it throw anything off? Any help or advice would be great. thanks fam

Each and every time before you change a code, the software does a backup so that you can revert back if it does not work. Just go slow and think about each thing you do before you click. It is fairly easy to do but it does have a learning curve
