Thumbs up Stock Exhaust vs. Stock Exhaust w/ Dinan Midpipe comparison

I just got a Dinan midpipe from mike@x-ph.com and made a quick comparison video. This is with the muffler valve open:

This is now probably my next mod. Thanks for the video and the comparisons.

Does installing the midpipe remove the valve functionality? Seems to have on mine, but can’t find anything online that it should. I’d imagine that should stay intact. 🤔

Nothing to do w/ valve function. Your original valve should function the same

That’s what I figured. It shouldn’t have an affect. Since getting my midpipe sintalled, the valve hasnt been functioning correctly. I might just have to reach out to Dinan.

My 2-cents: This has nothing to do with Dinan (if it's simply a midpipe) my guess...is its an issue with your installer that unplugged your valve during install and simply didn't reconnect it / Have you stuck your head under your car to look?

I feel the same way. Don’t see how the midpipe would affect something like that. I did check and it was still plugged in. I did unplug it and replug it and it fixed the issue temporarily. Maybe I’ll try that again and check the fuses, too

In Sport+ the crackles and pops are much more noticeable - maybe even more than I'd like. But it still sounds sweet. The car is much louder during a cold start, but under normal driving conditions there isn't too much extra noise. Once you get on it though it's noticeable. I'll most likely get the muffler section at some point. Overall I'm happy with it though.

Did you get a burning smell after a short drive when you first installed your? I just did mine today and I’m getting a burn smell. I’m guessing that’s the mid pipe is breaking in?

Took me a good three hours doing it at home. The exhaust cutting tool only cut 80% of the pipe, so I had to take off the exhaust and wiggle it till the last 20% break off.

The initial cold start up is loud but quite down like stock after. Reving it in sport + mode at a stand still gives off a lot of burbles and pop. During the drive, it’s doesn’t pop as much as I’d like it too but that’s a giving since it’s only a mid pipe. So I will be connecting it with a Dinan exhaust later on.

I didn't notice any burning smell, but I had a shop install it. Did you get your car serviced recently? The lack of pops/crackles might be related to having the car updated with the newer software. People have complained about going in for service and having the pops/crackles very much reduced. My car on the other hand pops and crackles like crazy.

Correct. Stock exhaust except for dinan midpipe + muffler flap open.

My car is only a few months old so I’m not sure if they flash anything while it’s at the dealer. I will be going in for an early oil change soon tho. So hopefully they don’t kill with whatever pop I have left haha. Did you notice your pop & crackles get louder after 200 miles or is it the same? I’m just wondering if this has a break in period or not.

Honestly I don't remember if they got louder or not after 200 miles.

Might just be in my head, but it honestly sounds like it got a tad quieter and the burbles and pops are happening less with mine.

I have heard a few people saying the same. I know when I first start up the car after the mid pipe was install, it sounded amazing. Here’s a clip of the first start up. Now It’s more toned down.
