M2C Depreciation
M2 Competition future owners, do you guys think the M2 competition will be an almost free car to have because there is not a lot of depreciation to it? Like it happens if you buy a brand new GT3 at msrp.
Thank you in advance. Ps if any of you guys knows of a dealer that has an allocation I will be happy to take it |

It will depreciate like any other M car; very slow at first, while the demand surges, then drop like bird shit when the supply stabilizes and the next best thing is announced.
I've been studying the BMW market since 2008, I was always on the money except with the 1M, that one was a doozy.. The limited production, 750 units probably had something to do with it.. |

In my opinion, the M2C will hold value for 1-2 years then start to depreciate a bit. Those with low miles (very low miles) will hang on a bit.
Unfortunately, as of right now we don’t have any reviews of the car. At 410 HP crammed in a small rear wheel drive car... this thing may be a bullet. My dealership said they haven’t seen hype like this since the 1M after track reviews came in and people started realize what it was. Big picture for a new car these days to hold its value and become a “classic” needs 2 ingredients. 1, has to be limited production 2, something has to be special about the car to set it apart. I think the M2C already has the special part checked with the engine and proper “M” bits. It’s a true M car if you think about it (take a small real wheel BMW platform and cram as much HP and fun info as you can). We will have to see how many they make. There have been 512 already released to the US market however, this car should only be produced for ~2 years. |

The financial part of me hopes it’ll follow a depreciation curve similar to the 1M. The fun part of me says hope it depreciates similar to other M cars, this way I’d be more inclined to drive it without feeling guilty. After all, I bought the car to drive, not invest.

Less depreciation than your average car, but not free, not a 1M, not a GT3. More like the M2... before the M2C came along. Your only hope would be if the next model is either AWD and or no manual. |

Will the M3 CS hold its value? https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1492914
The thread above pretty much answers the question; when the dealers are absorbing 40k losses on the M4 GTS, I don't expect the M2C to be the exception to the rule, as much as I would like it to be.. Also, this could be the reason they scrap the plans on engineering a M2 CS; too much of a financial gamble.. Buy it, drive it and don't look back.. |

Thank you all
The question was base on what would it be cheaper to drive. Let me explain.
If I lease a 340 Xdrive I would throw away like 27k in 3 years. If i buy a M2C I don't think I would throw that much money away, plus I'm driving fun mini rocket. |

If you are asking it the M2C will depreciate 27k in 3 years, no I don't think it will. Just look at 2016 M2 values, they are going on 3yr old now.
