What is Your Ideal Exhaust?

Hi Guys! We are planning some exciting new changes for our line of BMW products and would love to hear your opinions on what makes the perfect exhaust system. This type of feedback from the community helps us make decisions for future development and fine tune our products to the needs of the customers. If you have a moment, we ask that you please answer the 4 quick questions below regarding what you look for in an aftermarket catback system. Thank you in advance for taking the time to contribute!

PICK ONE:
  • Stock
  • Slightly louder than stock

  • Aggressively louder than stock
2) What tip finish/style would you want in a performance exhaust system?
PICK ONE:
  • Polished
  • Satin Finish
  • Satin Black
  • Carbon fiber
  • Titanium
3) What material do you want when buying a performance exhaust system?
PICK ONE:
  • Standard 409 stainless steel
  • Higher cost 304 stainless steel
  • Titanium
4) What’s most important when looking to upgrade a stock exhaust system?

1. With the valves closed OEM quiet. With the valves open, a nice change at idle through WOT. Deep, low, louder tones noticeably louder than stock.

2. Carbon Fiber or Polished Black

3. 304 or Ti.

4. All are of equal importance.

Good Luck !

1. With valves open slightly louder than stock but timbre of sound should be more MOTORSPORT. As opposed to deep American muscle type grumble.

2. Titanium. Rolled tips.

3. Titanium

4. Horsepower/torque, followed by weight reduction. Longevity ?? Lol. Who makes exhaust systems that don't last in this price segment ?

Sound: I'd like it to sound like a cross plane crank V8 with a lumpy cam
Tips: Black chrome
Material: Whatever is OEM
Most important:
Sound
Hp/torque improvement
Longevity
Weight isnt really a consideration for me on these very heavy cars ie it's not going to make much difference, if any.

Question #1 is all about volume, I think many folks have preferences for exhaust note (tone?) more than decibel level. Maybe I'm wrong...
