South Louisiana...July...Track Day...Good Idea???
So I got an email from a colleague of mine that shows there is a track day at the local road course in late July. My car is a 2007 335i with 90k miles that I recently bought from my dad...by the time this rolls around I'll have the following mods...
Injen Intake Ebay FMIC MHD stage 1 or 1+ tune My dad had all of the scheduled maintenance done on the car so it's in good shape, and the spark plug light just came on so i'll be changing them in the next week or two. The car does not have an oil cooler though and I'm wondering if a July track day is really a good idea. The air temp will likely be over 90 and the humidity will be 80-90%...the course is about 45 miles from my house, 24 of which will be on a 2 lane bridge with no shoulders and limited opportunity to pull over... I've never driven the car in limp home mode...but I'm wondering how likely ya'll think it is I have to limp across this bridge... |

That's kinda what I figured...there's another one in September...I'll probably wait for that and try and do the oil cooler and charge pipe in the meantime...
Thanks... |

If it's the "Track Day Lite" I doubt you'd have any issues. Two 20 minute sessions and everyone follows the instructors pace car. No passing allowed. Max speed you'll see will probably be around 100 on the straightaway.
If the car gets too hot just let it cool off a bit before you cross the Causeway. |
