So how does this move the needle in terms of the ordering process for US customers?

Does it just mean that all the drip...drip...drip is now official? Or more?

Should I be contacting my SA again who basically told me "I am checking every day and I will let you know when we can move forward"? I guess I was bugging him too much

It means you can now sit down with him to configure your M2C order, but he won't be able to submit it until he has an allocation, which would normally be out within the next week or so. There's no real point to bugging him until you hear that allocations are available (you may hear it here first, or your CA may be quick to contact you), since there's no real reason to give him the configuration ahead of [allocation] time. It's just that you could...

Nice. This has to be one of the easiest configurations ever, given almost everything is standard. Reminds me a bit of my E39 M5 - very few extra cost options (as I recall, M-audio, fold-down seats/ski passthrough, and, er...).

Question! In a lot of the configurator photos I see the regular blue brakes but it seems it comes with the "M sport brakes", which are the ones that require a 19" wheel right? Is there a way to not have the M sport brakes as standard and instead go with the old ones? Am I misunderstanding something?

Nope. The regular blue brakes were an M2 feature and those photos are likely holdovers because BMW isn't detail oriented enough to match proper model photos , nor do they fact check their own websites and printed materials very well for technical errors.

You are married to 19" wheels with the M2 comp if you live in the US and I think Canada

I think those photos might be from a Euro model. In many countries the silver M Sport brakes are not standard.

Also I thought you could get the M seats without stitching - is that true? My guy said no and I had to choose one.

...luxury or sport interior; if sport then rear sunblinds option. Full leather. Also badge delete. Probably something else (oh in model year 2000 you could spec chromeline exterior trim (yuk)).

M-seats require blue or orange stitching. Only if you go for the standard sport seats, (regular M2) you won't have stitching. Don't know whether that's an option in Korea. It is in a lot of European countries, but not in the US I believe.

I'm with BMW Military sales so we get the US version - so M seats it is! Glad to hear he was right. I went with blue.

Right. Not to geek out or thred jack too much, but I was referring to cost options. Full leather was standard on the Heritage interior, and outside of MY 2000, not available with the sport interior. Of course, the shades were extra if you chose the sport interior.

Back to regularly scheduled programming...Chuck and I will continue our old-timers conversation over a drink one day.
