Battery Discharge High Warning

I kept getting a Battery discharge high alarm when the car would sit for a while, ended up replaced the 80ah with a 70ah AGM from BMW and coded it to the car.

DIY Used to Code Battery: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1338302

Seems to be okay now, no more risk of being stranded.

Battery should be coded to the car when replaced, so the vehicle properly knows the battery age and status and knows how to charge it properly.

That being said, i replaced my battery with an exact item from BMW; I installed it without coding and no issues so far. I don't plan to keep the vehicle extremely long so I didnt pay to have it coded. Will do it if I keep the vehicle.

It's more detrimental to the battery than the vehicle from what I understand if not coded it.

as far as your bluetooth streaming I also have a 2011. Mine also has no music streaming. What is your build date? It was a feature added for later build dates.

Yep, I did code it. Changed the VO in NCSexpert coded all modules, and registered the battery in Tool32.

Build date 03/10. For Bluetooth streaming music I had to retrofit a combox from a newer model BMW (build date on combox is 2014). I'll post that up eventually

I'd be intersted to know how it was retrofit, seems like good information to know.

Combox Retrofit

Sick of not having Bluetooth music, so i retrofitted a telematics combox from a 2014 BMW. Coding and wiring were fairly simple as there were very good DIYs posted on the forums. Since I decided not to do make adapters the wires are a bit too short to bolt the combox to the MULF/TCU rack, I will eventually cut and extend the wires but it is temporarily Velcro'd to the trunk. Whole thing cost me about $150, should be able to sell the old TCU/MULF and make back some cost.

Disable SOS Error: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=805677

Current setup, the two unused cables are for GSM Signal I believe (BMW Assist/SOS) which have been disable via coding:

Wheels, Misc. Exterior Upgrades

Swapped out the original style 193 wheels, the runflat tires on them were almost bald:

18x9 Square Apex Arc-8 ET30, Hyper Black
Continental DWS06 255/35

New side indicators:

Arc Angel Halogen Angel eyes. Coded them to run brighter at 12.0V with headlights on (original was 6 or 7V if i remember correctly):

I like seeing cars bought at auction (that were most likely neglected) and brought back to health.

No messing around either! Serious elbow grease with maintenance & great mods right away.

I love these kind of threads...keeps me motivated.

I am thinking of replacing my side markers. Are those the OE ones? They look a lot clearer, and I think mine are kind of dingy.

They are OEM, the quality doesn't seem much better than aftermarket ones to be honest, I was just hoping that they resist the sun fade more. You can always sand the yellow varnish off and spray some clear coat on them like you would a headlight if you want to save some cash.

Yeah, this is what I did, but the results were only 90% as the OE ones managed to have some dirt/mold in between where the cover meets the backing that is left slightly exposed. Ah well.

You buy the TYR ones?

Yeah its odd, this car probably had to been ordered to get M-sport and 6 speed and then the owner traded it in to a Honda dealership at around 43k miles. You would think they would sell to a car enthusiast or something but i guess not.

Not sure if they changed or not over the years, just pretty sure you can buy any year after 2011 and use NCSexpert to disable any features you don't want. The trick to find cheap ones on eBay is to search for "bluetooth module", "telematics", or someting like that. The second they use "combox" in their add, they charge a premium

Bought these, not sure the manufacturer.

Anyways, I just found some oil leaking from the passenger thrust arm bushing. Both have quite a bit of play when you move them around, I guess this gives me a chance to put some upgraded ones that are more solid.

Nice thread. I'm interested in why you changed out the lug bolts at just 51,000 miles. I thought I was the only one who did stuff like that. But mine were well worn out after 100 or so tire rotations/wheel removals; they kept jamming in my 17MM impact sockets.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Omg hahaha I was wondering if I was the only one who found those wack.

My car is lowered and in picture you can easily see them. One side was already cut off so I figured eh let's pull em of. I wonder how much of a purpose they serve. I think BMW call that part a debris deflector or something.

No real reason, just had them laying around. They came off my e39 when I put spacers on which required extended bolts.

Not sure on the purpose but they were quite the eye sore.
