Vinyl Wrapping problems
So, I've been playing around with vinyl wrapping the interior trim on my 2010 E91. I've made three attempts - a Vvivid silver carbon fiber, a red-and-black carbon fiber look using a film made for golf carts (which was the best for application but I did not like the color - too orange, not red enough), and an Orafol (or Oracal?) film (love the color but a lot of problems getting the inside corners to stick (not peel).
The thing I can't seem to get right is the inside corners of the dash trim and the center console trim - while they appear okay on installation, they start pulling away within a day or two. See the picture below - this was a day after installation and now, a week later, they are much worse. The film that worked best was the golf cart film with only minimal pull away (but, as I noted, I didn't like the color). Any advice, tips, tricks on how to overcome this problem? K9Leader |

I just recently went through this process with 2 of my cars. I started with my E46 and vynil wrapped the interior with brushed aluminum.
It came out ok. I really took my time but it was tough and took forever. Sort of frustrating at times then like you said certain areas started peeling up after a few days. So I had my e90 to do, I hate wood trim. I purchased piano black vynil but figured I would run to store grab some peelable matte black instead and worse case scenario I can peel it off try again but I love it. it took me a fraction of the time. it's been there for months and still looks good, no peeling ect. just my 2 cents. Hell with vynil with interior parts just paint them. much easier and comes out nicer. |

Yep, I used relief cuts, heated it and stretched/molded it. The PowerSportsWraps stuff was the best - very little pulling away. The Orafol stuff was the most difficult to apply and has pulled away the most, but it is the perfect color and look.

If that doesn't work, then it is on to painting. |

Over stretching, especially without a heat source. Exposure to humidity too soon, especially in hot climates. Two causes that I have experienced cause lifting.

So I rewrapped the small dash piece, using adhesion promoter - I did have one adhesion promoter pad that came with one of the various wraps I've ordered. The corners look good now but will see in a day or two or three.

What was the issue with the silver carbon fiber? I was looking at getting some of that from Vvivid.
