Bluetooth Help

Hi guys,

I'm really sorry for this question i know it will have been asked so many times. I have looked and looked but can't seem to find a straight answer.

I just purchased an e90 325i 2005 today! An upgrade from my e46.

Now im trying to figure out if it has bluetooth enabled. The buttons are on the steering wheel, the button is on the radio unit and there is some kind of button and the phone are under the armrest. But nothing happens when i hold down any of those buttons.
If i hit my menu button there are three options, the 'telephone' option just has "- -" and i cannot select.

The vin decoder says S644A Preparation f mobile phone w Bluetooth. so im assuming it is prepped but not yet able?

Please clear this up for me and is it easy to get it going or should i go for a new head unit like a did for the e46.

Thanks

Prep does not mean its installed its just prewired for the module
for that particular function.
I would get a Printout from one of the free online vin checkers
to see what options are actually installed.
All the steering wheels have the same buttons but it does not mean
the options that they work with are attached to are present or enabled.

Before you go an buy a new Head Unit you should get familiar with which
audio system you have .

If you have Logic 7 it will be a pain to modify.
Aftermarket Head Units in these may not work or cause other
side effects due to the Fiber Optic Bus used in the Entertainment
system.

There is a stereo board sub forum on e90post.

funny when it says cdc prep or alarm prep all that's missing is the modules
that are actually the alarm or cdc on cars up to 09
Also I believe it was only a TCU for bluetooth phone up until 07.
No mulf module by till 08 and and all pre wiring discontinued after 09.

There is a silver box In the boot under the cover.with lots of leads is this the module? I've been told by the original owner it's faulty and I could get an after market part for it.

I have decided I don't want a new head unit I just want the Bluetooth to work

Edit: just calls no need for music

Post a picture of the silver box in the trunk. It could be a MULF1. https://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-5-Serie...AAAOSwrU1bBaG4

Whatever it is should be labelled.
And by bluetooth do you mean bluetooh phone , music or both?
