New Owner of an N55 - First Steps?

After a few years of owning my 08 E92 328xi, it was time for a change. I traded it in for a 2012 Alpine White/Coral Red 335xi E92

The car has about 43k miles, and so far the maintenance on it consists of regular dealership oil changes, and a brake service and fluid flush at 40k miles.

The car was purchased from a BMW dealership, At first I was skeptical because it already had a BMS Intake and an upgraded charge pipe, but after further inspection everything else was stock, and the ECU does not look touched either.

I have already changed the oil and filter myself. As being used to the N52 engine, any particular things I should look out for with this N55? What preventive maintenance, if any, could be suggested to be done first?

Nice man, M Sport too. I have a 2011 with 93k and the only issues have been cooling related with plastic parts failing so I would plan to replace the water pump and various hoses.

At 43k it might be time for plugs and coils soon so maybe start with that, then change the trans fluid and diff fluid an take a good look at the brakes.

I have already went back to the dealership on day 3, as they had to replace the coolant reservoir tank as the car kept loosing coolant once it got to operating temps. After they replaced it, the issue was solved.

And that's a nicely modded 335! Based on your sig, how long have you been running your mods on the car? any reliability issues with the bolt ons + tune?

Same thing happened to me after purchasing the car, atleast you got an upgraded chargepipe already thats a plus. I got overheating problems twice, waterpump at first then radiator. Other than that its been good im at 56k miles now

At 53,xxx miles my water pump went, then battery died, the ofhg was leaking a lot of oil, then serpentine belt started squeaking, and the plastic fitting on the end of the cylinder coolant hose crumbled. All super common miles though, just the stretch from 50-60k was rough for me.

Prepare for water pump, and oil filter housing gasket at least. Make sure to replace the plastic coolant hose head with aluminum piece from eBay if/when you do ofhg.

Yeah man I have went thru two reservoirs, it's kind of annoying but not a big deal in terms of car problems.

My car has been modded for the past 25,000 miles in terms of power, I waited until the warranty was up and until I did all of the usual maintenance stuff.

But other than the coolant pipe breaking and the radiator fan dying, it has been really reliable. Coolant stuff at this mileage in south Texas is pretty normal.

I agree with everyone else as well. Look out for those items, glad to see it already has a chargepipe as well. Mine blew off and took my tmap sensor with it... haha

I picked mine up with 31k on it, only had a JB4 and a downpipe. Now it is full MHD w/ FBO. Tons of fun!

Thanks for all the replies!

I'll check up on the OFHG and just go with the fluid maintenance as the miles go by. I've figured I'll get to the plugs first, before I throw on a tune.

After extensive reading and searching, I have a bit of a dilemma. Would anybody recommend going MHD stage 1, or even stage 1+ even with the stock Intercooler?

My charge pipe is already upgraded so I figured that Stage 1+ might be okay, as I don't do many WOT runs, or would starting with stage 1 be recommended?
