Shipping?

Sorry if this is somewhat off topic, but I wanted opinions from other E92 owners about who the best shipping company is. I need to find a good reputable and safe on to ship my car from CT to VA at the end of the summer. Please let me know who you guys recommend.

It's not a big enuff hike that i'd take the chance of having an issue with a transport company. I've personally heard far too many horrors stories to do that myself. You can't just drive it down yourself??

I can and I have been trying to decide if I should just take the extra day and do it.. I have heard people shipping without a hitch, and I wasn't a huge fan of putting the 500 miles on the car at once..

I'd just drive it, if I were you. For such a short trip, you'll probably pay a lot for a shipping company, and I'm always skeptical about how they'll treat a car.

Ditto... a few rolls of painters tape and mask off the front end and your good to go!! A little inconvenient but imo totally worth not jeopardizing your car in someone else's hands!

Trucking cars

Most of the transporters are independent truckers that are loosely aligned with brokers who just have an internet site or phone ad, but don't own trucks themselves.

I shipped my daughters car from NY to california ( $ 1000) and it worked out okay as I wasn't go to drive that myself. I would guess a shorter trip would still cost $400-500.

Of course, there are nice covered truckers and specialty shipping firms, but they cost a lot more.

The Atlanta dealership I bought my car from didn't really have my car on their inventory. The car was in a lot at a North Carolina dealership and had to be flat-bedded there to Atlanta. My salesman said they will comp the $500 cost to have it done.

* From what they tell me, of course.

I made the commitment on a Tuesday morning and the car arrived Wednesday same week.

Hope that helps!

I'd make the drive; personally, it's fun and might just be good for the engine. I've made 480 mile round trips to South Carolina ... twice. I had a blast.
