Velcro pads

This may sound crazy, but I do not have my velcro pads that hold the carpet mats in place, installed yet. It's the piece that screws into the carpet. I need to do this, my mats slowly slip away from me lol. Has anyone installed these? I notice they do not twist in, or if they do it can't be done by hand. DId anyone use a screwdriver to install them? Thanks in advance for the info

I used a knife actually. I have to admit it was a little nerve wrecking take a knife to my brand new BMW a cutting a small "X" into the floor! Works great, however. I even bought the all-weather mats and they use a similiar "hook" device (instead of velcro) that screws into the same place.

It does not sound crazy. Just ask the dealer for them. I've installed them and they work great. Just add some pressure while twisting them and they should go in without a problem. You can also just do a small hole in the carpet but I did not find the need for it. BTW, if you are also getting the all-weather BMW mats, make sure that the hole that you make works for both type. The mats with velcro have a big area where they fit but the all-weather have a small region where they fit well. I made sure of this since I did not want to have 4 holes instead of 2 in the carpet.

You have to install them yourselves? I thought they came with the car, mine were in there when i got the car, but my dealer threw some stuff in for free (pretty good about that) like he got them to do a full wax it looked amazing. My CA wasnt happy with the way they did it the first time, so he made them go back and do it again lol.

You have to press down fairly hard and screw them in by hand. I did it and they work. The don't leave marks/tears in the carpet, and the mats never move.

Thanks for the help. My mats came with my car, however the pads he failed to give me. "he said most don't want then, I disagreed". I have the parts here, I just have not installed them yet. It just looked weird at the bottom, didn't see how they would screw into the carpet. I will try to do first w/o cutting a hole...

You had to cut an X? How did you do that, I was going to try to press hard and hope it would screw in. I can't see how it stays instact, weird shape at the bottom.

I layed the floor mats down and then pressed really hard to make impressions in the carpet where the holes should go. I then cut a very small X where each screw would go into the carpet. I'd say each line of the X was no bigger than 1/4 inch.

I'll try that, did yours have a weird bottom, I don't see how this thing screws in and hold. MIne does NOT have a screw top bottom.

Ok, I was going to try to do that tonight. DId you use a screwdriver, using fingers don't work.

The velcro pads that are supposed to come with the mats have a plastic pointed screw protruding from the bottom. If yours do not look like this, you do not have the pads that are supposed to come with the mats. Installation is a total cinch. You just apply pressure and start screwing them into the carpet. It should take you about 30 seconds to install max, and you don't need anything other than your hand.

My dealer did the same thing in providing me the all-weather mats. He just threw them in there and did not provide me the hold-downs. My mat kept sliding to the front of the car, so I requested them. He gave them to me and I installed them two days ago. If you cannot figure it out, you either have the wrong parts (most likely) or you could be retarded (or possibly both).
