trade in, changing ownership

i am about to take delivery of my bmw on wednesday. my current car is an audi tt (trade in) but its under my aunt's name, so do i need my aunt right there while taking delivery or is there papers i can get my aunt to sign to change ownership for the trade in without her being there in person during delivery? or is there another process?. please help!

power of attorney should be fine; going to be alot easier to have her there in person imo. you have the title in hand yeah?

i wouldn't even try power of attorney if you aren't holding the title. (aka finance).

Just "sign" her name on the title prior to going to the dealer, but duno if that will work

Did she sign where the "transfer title" section is? If so, you should be fine...

so as long as she signed the title then she doesnt have to be physically there or sign any other papers?

In NJ, my wife had to be present to sign over her car for my BMW. Not sure if this was required or the dealer was making things up.

You should be fine, I just went through this as my dad's name was also on the title to my first car. He lives in Colorado. They just faxed him the power of attorney form and he sent it back with his signature. They took care of it all when I went in to do all the financial paperwork. They'll call to let them know they're sending the form, but it shouldn't be any problem if your aunt isn't there in person.
