335i Feels Slow from a roll
Whenever I hit it from say 40-60MPH the car just feels slow. Like it makes a lot of noise revving but doesn't have a real 'put you back in your seat' feel to it. Sure it picks up speed like a bat out of hell, but it doesn't have any real punch. No, it's not driver error and I have an AT. Anybody else feel the same.

are you using kickdown...
try puting it in the right gear around 5k or so. using kickdown wastes alot of time and plays around in the dead zone of the revs before it starts to pull FWIW, the N54 is suppose to be really smooth. on top of that, the AT is really good and the chassis itself hides speed. |

The car runs fine and I'm guessing that it's just me.......or that I gave the car an easy break in when I got it, maybe that could be it too. I remember test driving another 335i when I was car shopping, I floored it from 60MPH and it felt VERY fast..maybe I became accustomed to that. |

Maybe because it doesn't have as much power/torque as a Z06

Drive somebody else's car around for a week, then jump back in and you may feel different. I know that if I drive the GF's car, or a loaner for a few days, then jump back in the 335 seems fast again. Then again, they really aren't, "throw you back in your seat raw power cars," when stock.

your trying to compare a 7 liter v8 with over 500hp and ft lbs sports car thats 300 lbs lighter to a 3 liter twin turbo 6 cyl sports sedan? i'd probably go drive a G35, is350, cadillac CTS, audi a4 and punch it from 40mph and then im sure you'll think your 335 is a monster.

if its hot outside you are going to feel boost pains. werd. just part of the game. but (since im in the south) winter is the bomb diggity sub-freezing temps dry roads; turbo cars come to live and hunt down bigger prey
(alternatively go read up on toluene or find a 100 octane pump). you can bet your arse this ethanol b/s 93 octane isn't going to feel like the 93 octane of days gone by in mid summer heat.

We'll I'll try again by launching at a higher RPM hopefully I'll get better results. I'd like to think a 300HP TT would perform better than what I am experiencing.

You may have been updated to 29.2 on a service visit without your knowledge. Also, are you driving in 'ds' mode? that tends to have an instantaneous response no matter what gear/rpms

yeah you know the motor if you kick down is actually slower. if you were to put disable the kickdown block it from being hit or move the switch or whateevr) the car is actually faster.
if it kicks down it pauses, then goes. if you just 3/4 throttle it ; it takes off like mad. this is not uncommon; the b5 s4 audi was the same way folks did all kinds of crazy stuff to keep from going wot because it just went slower or kicked down and revved past the peak power point. try it go spend some time; its hard because of the power but try to not kick down on the AT6 and you'll see a huge difference. really huge with dinan i hear.

My car pulls very hard with the kick down at 40-45mph. It shoots up to 60mph almost instantly. I will actually tell my passenger to lean forward to see how the car throws you back in the seat when I punch it. Its strange you are having this problem, because that speed range is where the car pulls the hardest in real world conditions. If you think you are going to over rev out of the power range, then it makes sense not to hit the kickdown at times, but 40-45 mph should kick down right into the sweet spot of the power curve.

You got slip into M mode and shift yourself. Going 60 slip it into 4th gear and you'll take off like a bat out of hell. That's what steptronic is there for. USE IT!!!!

BTW, kickdown sucks...slow to react and I can't imagine the quick shift is very good for the engine. Like I said, drive in M mode or deal with the mediocre AT performance. DS mode will help a bit too, if you're not comfortable shifting manually
