Thanks trying .. disconnected battery hoping will reset -
Out of alll the threads I read I didn’t see anything about this - if I did I wouldn’t touch it What scarred me there is no back up performed! How crappy is that- we should be able to revert to factory- I’m hoping it didn’t try to upload and messed up all the factory settings |

I did everything per the instructions. 1- said communictoting with DME 2- said failed to write Car wont start tried again- says cant communicate with ECU car starts, runs for a few seconds and shuts off. I disconnected battery, came inside to research , I just want to get my money back and have my car running again **** CAR STARTED after battery disconnect !!!!!** Im so HAPPY!!!! MHD, I dont want to attempt to load this again, I requested a return on the app store. Very scary.

Your battery could be weak and the ECU voltage dropped while flashing causing the failure. Had something similar happen to me the first time i tried to flash.

A few times where I've seen this before and there are a few common causes.
Firstly, as mentioned above, battery. Some models are more picky than others and voltage must be maintained. You'll need a decent supply for this. Something which 'trickle' charges may not cut it. Secondly, cable/otg. Some just work whereas others either don't connect or are patchy at best and result in what you experienced. Lastly, the device you're using. There are others but working through the above should hopefully help. With regard to a backup, MHD contains an OEM zsub for you particular vehicle and will flash you to this if you revert to stock. If you post here you model I can confirm which. For example, the last time I checked mine was 98G0B using zsub xxxxxxx ( can't remember the exact number off the top of my head but it was something like 8639122) Last edited by keyap; 05-13-2018 at 03:14 AM.. |

One thing I noticed on mhd website about ignition instructions - put key in, PRESS START BUTTON-
For my 2011 if you put in key first press ignition is on- I didn’t press the start button after that- This is the only thing I can think of that might of caused issues- being the flash attempt failed both times in under 5 min - I was trying to figure out how to turn off the radio, as you know pressing the radio button just mutes it- was wondering if that interfered at first |

On my 2011, you need to put key in and quickly press the start/stop button without any feet on the peddles.
This lights everything up on the dash but doesn't start the car. Whilst lit, whether it be for coding or MHD, this is when I need to connect. |

My flash process is as follows:
-Sitting in the car, door open, window down. -Insert key, press ignition without foot on brake/clutch, SES light should be ON. -Connect MHD, make sure it's communicating. -Get out of car, close door. Ignition will shut OFF. -Press ignition two or three times again until ignition and SES light are back ON. -Begin flash once ignition is on and door is still closed. I've flashed my car probably a dozen times or more and haven't had a single issue yet. Could always be your cable or something too. |

Freaked me out big times. Once I was camping and wanted to flash down to a 91 map... Thought i was stuck in the middle of nowhere with a bricked car. Nah, it was all me. Don't give up. MHD rocks! |
