M2 to M2C pricing
FWIW, I asked for pricing from my dealer to trade in my M2 with MPE and adaptive LEDs as options across to an M2C base. With only 2,100km the trade in value was only $55K. So cash up front to go to an M2C was $20K.
Personally I won't make the switch but if you're contemplating the M2C, I'd sell your M2 privately ASAP. It does appear these cars will take a bit of a hit.

As stated, 2,100km so it dropped pretty good. Again that's with MPE, adaptive, etc.

You always lose a lot when trading in... This is how dealers make money.
Since it now costs 72-73K for a base M2 now (Comp), I am sure the original M2 value will stay strong since people willing to get a modern M car at a lower price point will have only 1 choice. |

Given it's unrestricted production, you'd have a long initial wait period for sure. But it won't be too bad. It'll be same production numbers as the base M2. So that means deliveries this fall, and then probably units sitting on dealer lots by summer. Anyone ordering around winter won't need to wait too long.

I wasn't really planning on it. The S55 isn't for me and the oil cooler placement is questionable for winter driving. I'll wait for the next variant.

Pricing wise I would add that the base M2C with essentially no options prices out at roughly the same as my LCI M2 with MPE and adaptive headlights at MSRP. Since you will definitely want the MPE and probably a half decent stereo, the price of the M2C could creep up on you pretty quick.
FWIW it appears that Canadian cars get those sport seats as standard. Yep 2018, just finished break-in. Have a few issues with the car that need fixing but other than that, it's been great. No regrets. Bavaria is great to work with, worth the drive to Edmonton in my mind.

Dealers have the M2-light guys who want to trade in for an M2C by the balls. I'm not in that boat, but wonder if the M2L guys will be in a better position once the initial demand is met.
Thanks for checking into this, OP. Good to know. S |

Do not trade-in your vehicle to your dealer if you want more $$.
Have your time and sell it through autotrader and kijiji + bimmerpost. (possible craiglist as well) you will get about 15-20% more than what dealer will value yours. It will be little hassle procedure but you do get your money back. There are ppl looking for good condition used M2s in North America especially for those who wants the great performance sports car under budget while M2C is not a bargain anymore as BMW Canada offers M2C standard as pretty much highly speculated. |

Chassis vibration on full boost (and only overboost!). I take it to the dealership, they tell me they notice it but think it's fine as they can't find what's wrong. Despite acknowledging it, I go pick up and my work order says they didn't find a vibration. Rinse and repeat. I'm on my 3rd visit at this point but I'm giving up. I am sure if I modded the car they would suddenly find the cause of the vibration.

Oh dealers truly are the worst for trade-ins. When shopping for my M2 I considered trading in my 2014 STi with 40,000km on the clock. They offered me a terrible price. Turned around and sold it less than 2 weeks later on the trader for $10,000 more than they offered. Lol.

Its the moment you step out after signing the ownership transfer, vehicle will start depreciate and starting around 80 ~85 % of the MSRP value regardless of the mileage driven. (of course except some cases where vehicle demand is so high compared to the actual supply then it gets tagged with premium)
Dealer usually takes about 15 % of the margin on used car trade-in and sale. That will be lower for their own brand vehicle that can be easily certified (with valid warranty). If you bring other brand vehicles then, the value will be even worth than the market price. I personally never recommend anyone to do anything with dealer except; when you are buying certain "dealer only offered" vehicle/ and getting your service under warranty. Check; |

as i'm sure most are aware there is a tax incentive to trade in your car at the dealership, if they offer you 50K for your car and the new car is 70K you pay HST on the 20K difference only, so basically in this scenerio (for ontario) 50K from the dealer would be equivalent to getting 54K privately..with this being said if you are willing to go through the hassle of private sale you will probably still come out on top
