Best shifter to eliminate or greatly reduce shifter play.

I understand that a bit of play when the shifter is engaged in gear is "normal" in order to reduce NVH, however I wouldnt mind the added NVH to have a solid feel in my shifter. I want to eliminate that side to side shimmy the shifter has when the shifter is in gear.

I looked at the bimmerworld race shifter, AKG Stage 2, RTD shifter, and CAE. Based off of the videos I have seen, it seems that the CAE is the only one that completely gets rid of the play. However, its a bit outside of the budget i would want to spend on a shifter setup. Im looking to spend $500 max.

Anyone have any suggestions or experience with this?

How many miles? The bushings may be worn, in which case you should consider replacing them, potentially in parallel with a kit.

I have UUC's short-shift kit on my '08 and love it. I didn't opt for the DSSR (double-shear selector rod) but have heard great things about them.

Most of the aforementioned kits replace the stock rubber/nylon bushings so before I order OEM parts I would want to get opinions on those kits.

Uuc black trans mounts, turner poly shifter arm bushing, modified e60 front delrin shift arm bushings, and burger short shifter and linkage. Best thing ever. Hardly any nvh, and no more mis shifts under load. I went overkill but i had many 2nd lockouts and 2, 3rd to 2nd money shifts. No more issues!

I wouldn't spend the money on a rtd or full shifter kit, especially after doing all this for half or less the cost.
