Obscure Movie Recomendations
Trying to find a movie to watch this evening for chill night with the girlfriend. We like suspenseful thrillers and horror (good horror movies, not the typical bullshit that gets put out these days. We like stuff like The Strangers, High Tension, etc.)
Just recently sat her down and had her watch The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy and she loved them. What recommendations do you guys have for movies that didn't get much publicity that you thought were good? Just noticed I didn't post in the Off Topic section. Mods please feel free to relocate thread. My bad. |

Have you seen any of the movies I mentioned? Although I did enjoy The Princess Bride many years ago, not exactly obscure or suspenseful; I'm talking like disturbingly and mind bending suspenseful. Thank you for chiming in though. Dammit man! Do I have to hunt Jaye down to offend him to get a mod over here? Last edited by King Rudi; 05-11-2018 at 12:26 PM.. |

I don't recall seeing it, etc., maybe it was Patricia that watched it.
Excellent film! I'm a fan of M. Night Shamalamadingdong but his stuff has a tendency to be hit or miss. Most of his films are quality. Another great recommendation. Sounds like we have the same taste in movies. Have you seen Would You Rather? What drew me to this one was Rob Wells (Ricky from Trailer Park Boys) was in it. Pretty twisted movie. I liked Dark Skies. I'm not big on horror but it was just the right amount of suspense.
Have you seen The Holy Mountain? Good film. The Thing? It's freaking awesome. |

Try watching Xtro. (1983 US release)
I remember that Sci-fi horror flick back in the 1980s when I was teen and boy did it freak me out. The film is very bizarre and has lots of blood and gore. Not a big budget film, but if you are a fan of the X-files and UFOs check it out.

The Thing? Are we talking Kurt Russell, early 80's? I saw this when I was a wee lad if we are talking the same movie. I remember it being a little odd but then again most of my TV/Movie experiences then were He-Man and G.I Joe cartoons. I may download it and watch it again. I didn't realize that was a John Carpenter film. Talking about the Thing reminds me of a movie that I watched around the same time frame of my childhood called Ice Pirates, I need to download and revisit that one as well. Edit: Just looked both of those up. Definitely will be watching. Will report back. Grazi! |

The reason I started this thread right here. I'll definitely be watching this. Much appreciated.
I missed a lot of films between 1999 and 2009. The first 10 years of my kids lives were a blur due to lack of sleep, constantly working and well....new dad syndrome and spending as much time with them as possible. |
