How would you remove the crappy plastic fitting for the hose that goes into the OFH?

I was doing the OFHG last night in my garage and the plastic fitting on that hose practically disintegrated when I pulled it out. I've ordered an aluminum replacement, but I'm having a tough time figuring out how I'm going to remove the plastic one without damaging the hose. There is metal band without any seams holding it on. In the space I'm working in it's not feasible to use a cutting wheel. Any suggestions? The hose is in great shape, FWIW.

The best I could find searching the forums is in the link below, but I can't see how I would use side cutters on the band without damaging the hose.

Cut off wheel on a dremel, just did another one last weekend. Make sure not to go all the way through into the hose, just get a nice groove/cut in the clamp, then use a screwdriver/chisel to split the clamp in half.

I just squeezed what was inside with a pliers. The hose was wrapped with a cloth, once the plastic bits were out, it was easy to cut off the metal flat band ring. Then replace the broken plastic nipple with the metal (aluminum).

2 choices:
Cut the ring off with a dremel, like described above.
Break the rest of the plastic so you can flex the ring off the hose. Hit it with a hammer, crush it in a vise, whatever, just get it to split so you can take it out in pieces. I'd recommend removing the entire hose from the engine bay so you can flush the inside of it out when you're done.

I just used this method. Because of the flange on the plastic bit I couldn't get the cutting wheel close enough to go lengthwise along the clamp, so I did four longitudinal cuts on it which weakened it enough that I could bend it off with pliers. When I took out the plastic connector it fell apart. The hose is still connected to the thermostat at the other end, and I'm worried some plastic debris might have fallen down the pipe. I guess I'll take it all the way off and flush the hose just to make sure.

Thanks for the advice all.

Yeah I did it this way as opposed to breaking the piece up as I still had it connected to the thermostat and didn't want to have to pull that stuff apart if something fell down the hose. I got lucky that the remaining piece didn't crumble like yours. looks like your only option is to pull it off and make sure nothing happened to fall down there.
