Carly - not smooth cylinder?
I'm having really bad misfire issues on cylinder 2. Carly has a parameter called 'not smooth cylinder x' does anyone know what that means? My cylinder 2 has a constant value around 64000, the rest of my cylinders may occasionally got a number that high but generally are under 1000.
I've already replaced plugs and coils. My BMW dealer did a test on my injectors and said they were all good. Could walnut blasting fix this? anything else I should look at? Can anyone recommend a good shop in Atlanta with reasonable rates for walnut blasting? |

No answer? I can try the first part.
A good read would be this: https://bimmerprofs.com/rough-run-menu/ I think carly's smooth operation is the same as rough running, they measure how each cylinder is engine affecting engine rotation. The values should fluctuate around 0( go bellow 0 then above a few seconds later, etc) I think Carly interprets the data as 32 bit unsigned integers, even though the values are signed => whenever the value is negative you will see a large value, close to 2^32 = 65536. Actually -1 = 65535, -2 = 65534. A formula for conversion could be: if displayed value is greater then 32767 => real value = displayed value - 65536; otherwise leave it as it is. So if you have 64000 => it is a negative value 64000 - 65536 = -1536. if it stays negative you may have a problem. I may be wrong though, I am just starting to play with with this stuff. |
