Question G30 530D Ac Schnitzer Tuning

Hey all, so i have done a few searched but can't seem to find anybody that's bought the AC Schnitzer piggy-back tuning box.

I just wondered if anybody had bought this and how you find it?

I'm incredibly tempted with the Racechip, however, after a little digging it seems that the transmission is only rated to 700nm (probably why the AC Schnitzer is quite conservative at 705nm).

Anybody been running a racechip long term?

Maybe I am super cautious but putting 786nm through a 700nm transmission feels a little risky!!

I was considering Schnitzer, but the price.. for looked better to get rid of this car and order the same, but 540d instead.. difference is nearly the same..

As for transmission - i wouldn't care if you planning to do <100 miles. BMW's (ZF) transmission is veeery reliable. New M5 shares same gearbox instead of double clutch one.

but i'm the same as you are - looking for best solution..

Nobody knows apart from BMW UK.

But we all think it is due to the VW diesel scandal.

I've done quite a bit of research, as you mention, the transmission is used on a number of vehicles with higher outputs, and is rated 250nm - 1000nm according to ZF literature! I do quite high mileage (circa 22k per year) so I would be near the 100k miles mark by the end of my ownership, however 95% of that mileage is sat on the motorway at 75-80mph, so a relatively easy life for the vehicle!

It is the torque converter that I am unsure about, I have very little knowledge of these and ratings etc.

The more I read the more I am tempted with the Racechip!

Yeees, like you said, if you doing average speed on motorway even with high mileage it shouldn't really load your transmission. Unless you don't tow and don't race 30% of your time - you will be OK for sure... Of course, overall lifetime of your transmission will go down, but... like what, 5%? Most likely you would get rid of the car before anything happens...
