2006 E90 330D underside damage help

Noticed the damage in the attached pic the other day.

It's on the underside of the car approximately underneath the drivers footwell.

Can anyone help me identify the part please? Heat shield?

Also, assuming I can get underneath the car, is replacement a DIY job?
