Is There A Hard Drive in My Trunk ?
Yesterday, after I had parked my car I went to retrieve something from the trunk, I heard a noise I have never noticed before. Under the cover on the left side of the trunk I noticed a rectangular device with cooling fins that was making a "hard drive like" noise. I have no CD Changer. Just what is it's purpose?
Also, are the electronics under the trunk floor board at the back of the trunk iDrive/GPS related ? Just curious. Joseph

In an '08 335i you've got your Logic7 amp (with fan) under the plastic panel on the left and your Sirius receiver (or space for it, on the left) and TCU (on the right) under the trunk floor. The 6CD Changer mounts above the Logic7 amp (requiring a different trunk trim with extra room underneath) if you have it installed.

Maybe it's the unusually warm temperatures (for here, anyway) but I just noticed the hum of a cooling fan when car was shut off, and traced it back to this piece of electronics. Thanks for the info.
