Weird first/second gear on n54
What's up guys it's been awhile. My 2010 n54 has 106k miles on it now. It had spark plugs and coils changed around 70k miles. I'm having a strange issue when my car shifts from first to second gear. It's only when I am light on the throttle, and as it's after it shifts I feel a very slight "bumpy" feeling. It's very slight, maybe need new plugs? It just feels like it's not running as smoothly as it should. Thanks

Btw it only happens from first to second gear (auto). Any other gear it shifts completely smooth. I also felt a lack of power , like a very slight misfire in the highway.

With this if it's specific to gears, I'd start with tranny fluid flush. It's recommend at the 100k mark and people have reported similar instances like yours. New fluid/ filter smooths shifts out.

So I just drove it again and noticed it isn't when I shift...it's when I'm in either 1st or 2nd gear when it hits around 10-15mph or 1500rpm. It doesnt have to shift in order to feel the hiccup so maybe it isn't the transmission. Maybe plugs ?

I had a hiccup at around 65 mph and it was the plugs... I thought it was when it was shifting.
It could also be coils , but plugs are probably easier to change or even swap |

When you change the trans fluid/pan/filter assembly, it wouldn't be a bad idea to go ahead and change the Mechatronik sleeve while you are in there. Get the OEM BMW or ZF sleeve; rather inexpensive and might save you from a headache later if that sucker decides to leak (or isn't already).
