help deciding between Cobb and Dinan

I am a victim of the exhaust flap "rattle" during cold start. Is there any other way to fix it besides getting a new exhaust system??

If not, that brings me to the decision between Cobb and Dinan based on what I have read here. I am looking for a good quality exhaust system that is as close to loudness as stock.....yes I am an old man...lol I am open to other suggestions too.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions!

You might also want to look into the 335is muffler. Not 100% sure if it fits the n55 but it is slightly louder than stock, quieter than the PE, and has a flap.

I unplugged the solenoid in the trunk that runs the actuator. While there is still a hint of rattle upon cold start it is so much better than before. The same thing can be accomplished from under the car with the "golf tee mod." The side effects of this are the overall loudness and tone on cold start is much more aggressive. Cruising at freeway speeds may produce additional noise/drone.

I may end up trying this...

It seems expensive for what it appears to be, but it is still the least expensive option I have found that keeps the flap functional.

Don't waste your money on a Dinan exhaust. Yeah, I have one, and am an old codger that isn't at all into the loud exhaust of that kid up the street. Don't. Not that it is loud.

Thanks guys for the responses. Yes, I tried the "golf tee" mod and the drone was enough to make me convert it back and deal with the rattle.

I haven't considered the 335is muffler but will look into it and the repair kit! Has anyone tried it yet?

Dinan is a good option if you are looking for a mild sound

My favorite sound is the REMUS

Seriously... for perhaps 10 seconds and you want to replace the entire exhaust? Sure, whatever.

See above comment...

His first question was basically "is there some way to fix it WITHOUT buying a new exhaust system."

I'd be curious to see how well this works.

Hey guys,
I bought the repair kit and it worked! Very easy to install and so far so good, no annoying rattle.
