Pops & Bangs - First minute in Sport
I've got one question I just can't answer to myself.
My car is currently running without resonators and as we all know it's slightly louder. But in one certain situation the pops I get when downshifting are just mad. I start the car and drive 5-8 mimutes (5 km) to warm it up in comfort mode with super light foot (note it's about 20C here so it doesn't take that long) After that I put it into a Sport mode and first, let's say, 10 pops are just crazy, super loud with that nice metal-ish sound. I love it. But when I stay in the Sport and repeat it again after a minute or two, that sound isn't that aggressive as it was (and like that it stays for the rest of a drive). Honestly - don't think it's something with warming up the exhaust. I'm pretty sure it's all warm in the time of first downshift. Anyone has an idea why first few are so loud? (I love it and wish all the remaining would be loud like that). |

I have a resonator delete too, and I know exactly the pops and bangs you mean. They tend to happen for me when I start my car semi cold(after sitting for ~4hours or so).
When I'm in residential neighborhoods I will stay in first gear from stop sign to stop sign and the pops are insane on deceleration from 3500rpm in sport or traction mode. My theory is that the engine is still warm enough to wear it will pop, but the exhaust system is cold which makes it sound a lot sharper. This also explains why it only lasts for a couple minutes since the exhaust probably heats quickly and returns to normal pop sounds. I wish it always sounded like that.

I know what you mean as I also have a resonator delete. If you want more crazy pops that stay full drive, go catless DP. I just did it and it sounds great. In sport mode crazy pops. In comfort, you get pops on low rpm decel kind of like how sport mode is after a while of driving. So either way, it's a win with catless DP.

I know what you mean. The pops during that 'golden' few minutes sound like gun shots! I love it.
