What to do when car is getting vandalized?

As most of you have noticed, a lot of us have gotten our cars vandalized recently. And many of us have sworn that if they were there to catch the bad guys at the spot they would @$%#!%!^ them up etc, but what is the best and legal way so we don't end up in behind the bars longer than the suspect? Grab a witness at the spot? Or secretly videotape your own car getting keyed with your camera phone?

camara phone might not be good enough i saw withness cam and call cops and whip some ass lol 3 out of 4 is good too

Get a vid camera installed somehwere nearby maybe? if it is a public parking lot or something then its legal

Ah, a few weeks ago I was talking to my friends about this. I said that if i caught someone keying my car, I would tackle him, knock him out, sew his chin to his shoulder, sew his wrist to his other shoulder, and take a bat to one of his legs. Have a nice walk home!

Not much you can do, sadly. Even if you manage to get a video clip or pictures of the incident as it's happening...how are you going to find this guy again?

Several years ago I was at a gym working out at night when all of a sudden there was a lot of noise from the parking lot. I and a few other people go out and see what was going on...2 guys that were in the gym were beating up another dude. The story turns out to be that the dude was trying to break into a car, while the 2 guys were walking out and they beat him to the ground. The robber managed to limp off after we held back the 2 guys, fearing that since adrenaline was still high, they'd severely hurt the robber.

Sadly even having a video and calling the cops will basically do nothing, even if they find the guy it is usually some punk that gets off since he couldn't pay for the damage anyway. Kick his ass and get a friend to say you where not there - what is he going to do - call the cops and say you kicked his ass while he was keying your car - just doesn't work very well if he knows where your car is cause he will probably key it again.

Maybe move to a better neighborhood or get a garage!

Lets say I know someone who had vandalized cars found out this was a bad idea the hard way one morning when he had his lug nuts repositioned to the ground.

Noooo way...

In regards to the video tape. I'm not 100% on this but I heard that video tapes as well as pictures cannot be used in regards to court cases if the video tape was filmed by any person. Unless it's a CCTV camera then they cannot enter it as evidence mainly because it could have been tampered with. Example: Photoshop can be used to place a person in a photo used for a crime...

Not sure if that's true... But, to answer the question. I'm pretty sure if someone was vandalizing my car I would probably have to kung fu someone

No...Why would you want to shoot someone over a car keying? yes I can understand it if they are keying...your face...but not the car. Kind of extreme isnt it?

Coming from a gun owner, you shouldnt shoot someone keying your car unless your willing to spend the better part of your life in prison.
