Ok, here goes:

According to BMW DE:

1570 kg - M2 MT
1595 kg - M2 DCT

1625 kg - M2C MT
1650 kg - M2C DCT

1635 kg - M4 MT
1660 kg - M4 DCT

The shorter wheelbase will probably keep its lighter and more agile feel. But still. 10 kg equals nothing.

Good point: all M2 cars sold to date are actually "M2 L" (Leichtbau).

And the forthcoming one: the "M2 C" (Chubby).

The M2 still needs to get into the gym and do some more weight training and keep dieting.

US SPEC M4 6MT - 3565 lbs = 1617 kg
US SPEC M4 DCT - 3620 lbs = 1642 kg

US SPEC M2 6MT - 3450 lbs = 1564kg
US SPEC M2 DCT - 3505 lbs = 1590 kg

US SPEC M2C MT - ?? 3569 ?? = 1619 kg
US SPEC M2C DCT - ?? 3626 ?? = 1645 kg

For the US SPEC M2 I simply added the 55KG to the KG weights and did the math.. The responses are in ?? because they are unofficial.
once again... the Euro weights

agreed.
I already replied to your calculation in the other thread and explained why I used EU weight figures, which are stated in this thread as well. Based on your and my brute force US weight calculations M2 weighs a few lbs more than the M4 in US. I'm still waiting to see the official US weight number. Plus/minus 10kg is not something we can feel so not worth arguing over.

Here's how I replied to your calculation in another thread:

I'm just waiting for the official US weight numbers. However, the point being is both M2 and M2 Comp have so much more potential to shave some weight off compared to an M4. If you replace an open-deck engine with a closed-deck, add extra cooling while not replacing anything else with their lighter counterparts to keep the price as low as possible of course you are gonna end up with a heavier car. BMW will happily give you what you want (probably in the near future) if you are lucky enough to be one of those 1000 or 2000 people and willing to pay a nice premium (e.g. M4 GTS vs M4 ZCP or M4 CS vs M4 ZCP).

I'll stop hijacking your thread OP. Sorry!

@cntzl

Excellent summary on the weight difference between the M2C and M4 and why..

Made a lot of sense and it resolves the dispute IMO. But trust me, this discussion will go on..

Just think, the e46 M3 with a MT weights: 3,415 lb (1,549 kg)

Considering the M2/M2C is packed full of safety and tech equipment, BMW has kept the weight down.

1549 kg - M3 MT (e46)

1570 kg - M2 MT
1595 kg - M2 DCT

1625 kg - M2C MT
1650 kg - M2C DCT

1635 kg - M4 MT
1660 kg - M4 DCT

If I remember correctly, e46 M3 still had 50/50 weight distribution. The extra weight in the front of M2C, on the other hand, worries me a little bit honestly. Overall weight is something I can live with and possibly improve quite a lot but improving the weight distribution will be a tough one. If you don't track it, you probably won't notice much difference tho.

Has the M2C weight distribution been posted anywhere - I haven't see it yet?

The current M2 is:
Weight distribution, front/rear – Manual transmission (%) 51.9 / 48.1
Weight distribution, front/rear – Automatic transmission (%) 51.4 / 48.6

No, I haven't seen it yet but my guess is 53/47 or 54/46. BMWUSA usually has weight distribution of each model so I believe we'll find out soon once they upload the technical details on their site.

It will be interested to see.
