Pulling away from a stop, first 1/4 of throttle movement not linear.
So, when you press down the accelerator, why does it take about .2-.4 second for the car to respond (then it jumps not smoothly)? Is this 'fixed' with progman 29.2? (ugh).
I have gotten to where I move the accelerator well before the light turns green to account for the delay, then after the car moves, press it down the remainder for a smooth start.. but someone else driving the car wont know of this idiosyncrasy. I imagine some will just write this off to electronic throttle actuation, but my Gs4 had the same and they got it right 9years before...!!

I think it has to do with the stupid hill assist where it doesn't disengage the brakes for a couple seconds after releasing.
Maybe someone else can chime in. Hopefully there's a fix for this.

There are a few threads in the N54-Turbo-Drivetrain forum about this. Enjoy.

This feature is worthless and I can't believe there's no fix for it or any way to turn it off. It's a PIA when the freaking brake abruptly clamps down or abruptly disengages when you lift your foot off it. Nicely job BMW! I cannot parallel park my car or park close to a wall without smashing my bumper/s and looking like an asshole as I jerk my car into position. Well done! |

I sorta can feel when its the hill assist, theres a little clunk and then the car moves - with no gas on. This is about .2second after that and seems to be linked to the throttle more than anything.
And my car does NOT have 29.2

No, i know what 335e92tx is talking about.
The feeling isn't hill assist, it isn't the rear brakes taking too long to let go. I have that problem on my 330i 6MT What he is experiencing is the same thing i am with my 07 328i. I'm not a auto mech. so i don't know what the problem is but i know it is the eqivalent to when an older car with a carborator's idle is too low. . . Like there is too much slack in the line and when you step on the accel. there is really bad lag and then you have to step a little harder and then the car jumps and jerks you back into your seat. Very irritating. |

Guys, you absolutely should not tolerate this problem! You probably know that you have a 'drive by wire' system in which your throttle is electronically actuated through a device called a stepper motor. You press down X amount on the pedal and the throttle is designed to move Y amount. Unless someone has fiddled with the software the response should be linear, i.e. you press down X+A amount and your throttle response should be Y+A.
If the problem isn't in that system it could be in the injector contol/fuel delivery system. Whichever, a BMW tech who knows his stuff can track down the source of the problem. Your problem will be getting the dealer's service dep't to take you seriously. Be sure the SA goes for a ride with you. Do NOT accept the "They all do that" BS, they don't. |
