Aftermarket Roof Box Options for the E90?
Ok, not really a cosmetic or performance part/solution enquiry, but one I couldn't really get solid information on.
I'm looking into picking up the OEM roof rack system soon for my E90 and I'm weighing various cost effective cargo carrying options to go with that. This is primarily for road trips to supplement my the reduced-by-my-full-size-spare trunk space Well, I'm new to roof racks and accessories. So what (cheap) options do I have? The OEM ones are beautiful but expensive ($500 and up). There is a soft bag that goes in conjunction with a baggage rack that might work but I kinda prefer a hard case. I know there is at least 1 Thule box that fits (T-MC-G's car) but I think thats above $500 as well. Would an OEM Volvo cargo box work with the BMW roof rack system. I'm eyeing one on ebay right now (its for an S40). The cross bars look similar but I'm not sure. Yes I'm aware of the possible costs of increased drag on fuel economy. And yes I know an E90 looks off with a huge roof box on top. I also know I could well rent a car but sometimes, you know, you just want to drive your own car. TIA.
