Safety: Running BEF without JB4
Hi folks,
My 2010 N55 DKG 135i runs FBO, with JB4 and BEF. I had no issue, and for sure hope it lasts It's my daily car, I drive quite a lot, and really need this car. In case my JB4 fails, for some reason, in the middle of nowhere, am I able to simply pull it off, and run on the BEF only? Sure, i guess it wouldn't be ideal. But at least, is it OK to drive, let's say ~1000km like that, till I can access what I need to reflash it to stock? Thanks in advance. |

One more clever and faster way to pull it out would be to make a home made connector, that would take place of the JB4 in such cases. It would be a matter of minutes and a few dollars. But that’s already way out of scope for this topic. |

I was in a similar boat with using someone else's tablet. I caved and got an older Samsung prepaid phone on sale for like 50$ and I'm glad I bought it, so I'd recommend doing the same. A bef, flashes the piggy back not the ecu so I don't think you can have the bef without the piggy back

The BEF flashes the DME, not the JB4...

If JB4 is off or not working, car will run just fine.
It will make less power and you would lose any of the Jb4 features, thats all
