Plan on using my stock rims, with stock tires (Continentals) for the first track day of the year at Palmer. But will probably switch to a Dedicated set at the end of the season. Just want to burn off the Continentals to replace with Michelins.

I was going to get 18 also. I have some other wheels coming for the road.
Thinking just take the oems and fit them with some Cup 2 tires. The difference between 18 and 19 can't be that drastic, can it? |

Did a full season (10+ days) last year on OEM wheels with SC2s in stock sizes. No issues other than really poor front tire wear. I've since moved to a dedicated track wheel setup on Apex 18x10s fitted with some NT01s 275 all around.

Yeah, that was my experience. Corded first set of SC2 fronts within the first three days on track with the M2 with stock camber/suspension. With camber/suspension I was able to get more days out of them but they still corded on the outer edges with plenty of meat in the middle and inner edges after 7 or so days (some days were rain days).
Depending on your pace, driving style and tracks you frequent, your experience may be better or worse. Having said that, the car handled very neutral and had good grip in the dry. The wet not so much, easy to hydroplane over any standing water. PSS are much better through standing water IMO. |

All of this depends on how much effort and money you want to spend on going faster. I have over 30 track days running the car from stock at the beginning it's current set up with MP coilovers, camber plates, 18 square, and slicks. The GC camber plates set at -3.2 really help with turn in and tire wear. The 18 square set up gives me many tire options at all price points ,with the ability to rotate.

What size and offset of wheels are you running? I am assuming tires are 275/35/18 which is fairly common and provides many choices. Thanks. |

The car is not my DD but I do drive it on the street a lot which includes trips to various tracks. ...so I leave the alignment alone. I run the Tire Rack 18/9.5 square set up when not on OE wheels. I actually prefer the 265/35/18 square set up...less spacer...no rubbing and good tire options.

Yep I'm tracking with OEM wheels and PSS tires. Outside of them wearing pretty quick!
No plans to have a dedicated track set but I will be switching to RE71s next summer w/ coilover and camber plates.. and winter tires for the offseason. Both on stock rims. |
