track/street pads 335i e93
Hi friends, I'm looking to replace my OEM pads with a better pads, mainly for street use, but occasionally track. I recently bought a 335i n54 e93 individual, so keep in mind it's a heavy car 1810 kg. I found the stopping power of the OEM pads just not enough for my style of fast driving.

Separate pads for street and track are a good idea, otherwise you end up with a compromise. I bought EBC reds because they were low dust and "suitable for light track use". They are low dust and handle some spirited back road driving fairly well, but faded right out as soon as things got exciting on the track...
I have my eyes on Hawk HPS 5.0 if I do end up trying for another street + performance pad, knowing that I'll have to put up with dust. But I think I'll probably just swap in some proper track pads for my next track day and put the EBC reds back on afterwards. Last edited by maddmatth; 03-23-2018 at 08:22 PM.. |

I bought Hawk HPS 5.0 for this purpose. Garbage on the track and squeeky as hell on the road. 10/10 would not purchase again. I agree with the earlier statement of getting a good street pad and then swapping in something like a DTC-60 for the track the night before or something. A lot of guys swap them at the track. I like to do it the night before. They're not super amazing for everyday driving, but they're good enough to get me from my house to the nearby track during the summer months.

Stoptech isn't a track pad, didn't work well for me. Carbotech XP10 worked great on the track and on the street although they squeak and dust but that's unavoidable. Changed over to Pagid RS29 and they're fine on the street as well, and they squeak and dust, too. Haven't had a chance to try them on the track but they'll be fine.

Some good recommendations already with the Pagids and Carbotechs. I'll throw the Ferodo DS2500 in as well as a fine daily driver pad that has some track capability. Make no mistake, you can and will overheat them with aggressive driving on a road course. They will dust quite a bit and they can be noisy when cold, but really anything you get as a compromise street/light track pad is going to be much the same.

what do you mean by track? autocross? I wasn't aware HPDEs are allowing e93 now.
for autocross, you will be fine with stock pads.

What do you guys think about these prices?
Performance of the OEM is good enough for me. I am looking for low dust pads but the prices of these aftermarket pads are insane. OEM pads go for 30 bucks. Aftermarket for over 200 bucks! (Yellowstuff) Totally not worth it if you ask me. |

No sorry. Equal to OEM i guess then. I don't really know what BMW OEM's to be honest.
I am talking about Meyle and Textar which i can get for 35 bucks. They probably dust like crazy but i still cannot justify spending almost 200 bucks extra. |

OEM BMW Jurid are about $30 per pad Meyle, Textar, TRW and most OE replacement pads will perform less. StopTech sport is decent for street and occasional not super aggressive track. Maybe try that.

I don't mind the dust, I need some pads that will not fade in 10 min of agresive driving, like my TRW pads are doing now, I'm a bit worry because I was just about to crash the car because of fading so fast...😖

I just installed Ferodo DS2500's, higher temp fluid, SS lines, and new OEM rotors. My brakes do not fade even after 10+ min of aggressive driving down mountain roads. Although the pads dust like crazy and will probably wear the rotors faster, the trade off is worth it to me.

I just installed coolcarbon street/track plus pads on my 335d and so far i am really, really happy with them on the street. I do not track my car so i have no idea on fade with tracking or racing. I did install the red crc antisqueal to the back of the pads and absolutely no noise on these at all and also seems to be fairly low dust so far, not enough dust to see for sure but if i wipe a white paper towel i do pick up some but barely and thats after a week of driving.
I only did the fronts and the place i bought them from was so confident they gave me a no questions asked full money back garuntee if i did not like them so i had to try. Cons are they are expensive i paid under just $140. With a 10% military discount and i do not know how long they or my rotors will last. This is advertised as a street/track pad and to bad they dont use the same materials for the rear pads because i would really like to run same pads material front and rear. Also i got this blue caliper grease at oriellys and have never used it before, its synthetic and tacky as hell i doubt it will ever come off but its only rated to 450 degrees which i hope is not a problem when others are rated to like 3000 degrees but seems to not be as tacky and i find it comes off into my dust caps. Hope this helps |
