Seatbelt
Anyone else having a hard time grabbing the seatbelt when they get into the car? I have to squeeze my hand down low between the seat to grab a lower portion of the strap and its a daily struggle. I do like a reverse grab and then come up kinda, over my shoulder. i see there is a hole in the seat where it can slot in but it keeps falling out?!

Mine does fall off sometimes as well. I find when taking the belt off, instead of letting go, let it retract slowly and it usually stays on the hook.

Sometimes you just have to adapt to the machine. It’s like in a Cessna 172 - you need to buckle your seat before you close the door or else you won’t be able to clip in. Think of the i8 as an airplane, and you’ll forgive it its quirks. ;-)

I notice that the new Roadster has a leather retaining strap for the seat belt rather than the fancy silver thing we have currently. Perhaps BMW have recognised a slight issue with it (albeit I've never had a problem)

I don't think that they have identified any issues with it. Only the Roadster has the newly designed seats (with memory function) not the new Coupe as far as I am aware.

What a dumb move by BMW. The seats were the biggest improvement in the new car IMHO. Not that I mind the old seats, but I do hate the lack of memory. |

- No memory seats - No i8 logo projection from open doors. It is only on the Roadster - No wifi hotspot prep - No wireless charging with the enhanced bluetooth. The Coupe just has the enhanced bluetooth These are all things I'd want in the Coupe if I was looking to upgrade |

The roadster doesn’t have rear seats. So you don’t need to be able to slip the belt out of its retainer everytime you want to access the back. Hence the open clip in our cars and a closed loop (sounds like) in the roadster.

Well, as you know, I'm not upgrading but rather getting my first i8 with the 2019 coupe. I'll certainly let everyone know my impressions when I get it in 3 weeks, and although I haven't owned an earlier version, I have taken enough test drives that I feel I'll be able to provide some assessments of the value of the upgrades. As one example, I'm already familiar with the iDrive 6.0 from videos owners of new 5 and 7 series cars have posted, and I have the prior iDrive version on my current 550i. From what I've seen on the videos, I believe 6.0 represents a dramatic improvement (and it comes with a free Apple CarPlay 1-year subscription).
