I'd love to see The Doctor win a 1000cc MotoGP championship to add to his impressive streak (800, 990, 500, 250, 125) but, sadly, his career is in decline. I see several things that eroded his edge:

2010: Broken leg during qualifying at Valencia. At the time, Rossi was second in the championship; he ended the season in third. It's amazing that, up to that point, he had never missed a race since his first appearance in the 125cc class in 1996.

2011-2012: The Ducati years. Need I say more?

2015: The Sepang incident, where Rossi, after repeatedly (and probably justifiably) accusing Marq Marquez of trying to help Jorge Lorenzo win the championship, kicks Marquez in a turn. (I can't believe the kick actually sent Marquez down. It looked like one of Vlade Divac's flops on the basketball court when he was playing for the Sacramento Kings.) That incident sent him to the back of the grid for the final race of the season, which probably cost him the championship.

I think #3 may be the most significant. Rossi was the master of head games, both on and off the track. Remember the "Rossi curse," when he said Sete Gibernau would never win another MotoGP race... and it came true? When Rossi let Marquez get into HIS head, and threw away the championship in the process, that was a real game changer.

Marquez´ footrest got caught in Rossi´s boot. There was no kick. This has been discussed to pieces ever since and filmed from 50 different angles ( well almost ). 2015 was a fake show where planned corruption by accident got visible because of unplanned emotions getting involved. Lorenzo admitted the whole thing when he said that the Italians would have done the same thing if they had the opportunity. I think everyone learned a lesson that year. It was a shameful year for MotoGP. Fortunally it looks a lot better now ( C´mon, Redding#45!)

I can't wait until he retires. I've lost all respect for him and I used to be a fan.

All the ridiculous conspiracy theories and the stupidity of his fans to believe it. Quit with the bs and just get on with the racing.

I can't wait until his fans have to actually use their brians to decide what next.
