rough idle at start

i am experiencing some rough idle when i start the car. The rpm needle increases and decreases quite a bit. This only occurs when I start the car and not during stops when I am driving.

Another problem I am experiencing when I start the car, and I move it from P to D or R the car even with my foot firmly on the break the car will have like small rough spurt of acceleration. What is wrong???

I also searched the forums but no one seems to be experencing the same spurt of acceleration. I just want some more info before I call the dealer so they don't think I am retarded.

Could be bad gas with water in it or high ethenol (sp?) levels. I would drive it around a little and see if it gets any better. Did the check engine light come on or did any lights come on at all? I have never had this problem with ym 330 so I really cant help you anymore. If not I would have the dealership look at it as soon as you can.
Good luck.

This happened to me once with PROcede V2. I set the valet mode at 3000 rpm instead of 300 rpm and when i would turn on the car and "rev it" right away to above 3000 rpm (to disable valet) it would cause this behaviour. I just put back the valet rpm to 300rpm and never had a problem again.

That could be that fuel pump crapping out. From what I've read they often cause starting and cold idle issues when they start to go.

I'd say dealer time on both of those situations.

is there a huge problem with the fuel pump on the 330s?
i thought it was more of a problem on the 335i?

I had a problem just like that, got worse over time and turned out to be a bad fuel injector. Took them a while to figure it out cause it only happened the first time you started the car each day.

I had the rough idle at startup, I would put my foot on the brake and shift into gear then the engine would rev up for a sec, you could feel the car want to go and then drop and continue to run rough for a few more minutes (got worse over the course of 2 weeks or so). When it first started happened it would go away after about a minute, then it became 2 minutes, then 4 etc... I was initially told bad gas, after 4 or 5 tanks of "bad" gas, they finally did a weeks worth of testing to realize it was the injector.
