Want to order Euro spec 18"s

Is it possible to order the euro 18"s for a US spec M3? I don't want to have 19" wheels for the harsher ride and larger unsprung weight. I don't like the stock US 18"s. I'm going to order a 2009 M3 in the near future and was wondering if it's possible to get euro 18"s on my car. Also, does anyone have a picture of Interlagos blue e92 with euro 18"s? I've looked all over the forum and can't find any! Thanks for the help.

No, not unless you move out of the country; BMWNA is not flexible on any special orders.

Firstly, I am pretty sure the OEM wheels have been weighed and the 19"'s are actually lighter than the 18"s. The 19" tires are also slightly lighter than the 18"s due to the smaller sidewall.

Secondly, I thought the Euro and US wheels were identical? What makes you think the Euro wheels are different to the US ones?

If the 19"s are lighter than the 18"s then that's just depressing for the 18".

Here's the best I could find for a side by side comparison. The Euro 18"s spokes are uniform in thickness while the US spec get thicker as they near the tire. I'm willing to bet that the Euro 18"s are lighter rims than the US 18"s. Does anyone know the weight of both the Euro and US rims?

US 18"s

Euro 18"s

I had never noticed that slight difference. It may even be the shadows playing a trick on your mind? I just think this is a case of OCD

I don't see a difference, is it the design? or the color?

The diff is the color of the car... haha.

I think there is a diff in the taper of the spokes.. the euro ones are not tapered from the looks of the pics

If I'm going to spend well over $60K on something, I'm going to pay attention to every detail. Seriously though, there is a large difference between the Euro and US spec 18" wheels. Do we have any members outside of the US and Canada on this forum? I'm betting that since BMW USA shafted us with different 18"s then the Euro 18"s are probably lighter (and more expensive) than the US spec. Considering we don't get Euro spec seat bottoms, split center armrest or brake regeneration on the US M3, I'm not at all surprised that we don't get the better wheels.

It makes the M3 cheaper. M3s in the US are a lot cheaper than they are in other countries. For example, it costs £50K for a base M3 in the UK. Even though we get a big discount, I want those euro 18" wheels!

Base wheel differences

The Euro and US specs initially were both for Style 260M 18" wheels. This is from the US Ordering Guide:

"M-style alloy wheels (Style 260M) with Satin Chrome finish, 18 x 8.5 front, 18 x 9.5 rear; 245/40 front and 265/40 rear performance tires."

Now, BMWUSA lists this on the website:

"M Double Spoke (Style 219M) Satin Chrome finish light alloy wheels, 18 x 8.5 front, 18 x 9.5 rear; 245/40 front and 265/40 rear performance tires."

But, it calls them Satin Chrome, which they definitely are not. Confusing.

So people can't order different wheels on any BMW or is it just a problem for M cars? Could I order the wheels through my dealer separately? I seriously don't see why they can't swap wheels! US cars are built in the same line as the euro models so it's not like they have to go very far to get the euro 18"s.

Every model has limited options.

Of course, your dealer will be happy to sell you anything they can. However, some "Euro"parts may not be available in the US.

"Specials" really screw up the manufacturing efficiency.

You can't even get Estoril on the Individual Program in Europe.

I don't think the big ol' "DENIED" coming your way will have any emotion in it whatsoever.

I was joking about the individual coloring but I'm determined to get the 18" euros.
