I got a rock chip on the windshield of my old E46. It was the size of a dime, but they shrank it down to a good size. No spider web at all. The cost to fix was around $70. Whether it be a rip-off or not, I didn't care so long as it got fixed.

I ended up getting a chip and a small crack fixed via my insurance "no deductible" windshield repair program. They got safelite out to where I work, and the guy fixed the windshield up in about 30 minutes in the parking lot.

The bill to my insurance was $57.

The results look quite good.

I also have a fresh, and very tiny chip that is (of course) right in my line of sight. I've never used the DIY kits... does it take practice? I really don't want to "practice" on my windshield for the first time. I'm thiking about finding a pro to fix it and just pay them.

I had one in Dallas and it took them 20 minutes and $50 out of my pocket to repair... Two years later, it is still invisible unless the light hits it right. It is not spreading at all...

if you can read......the directions are self-explanatory.....

$10 is cheaper than a professional or new windshield......

I just had a chip fixed. This jacked dually F-Series was in the right lane as I was entering the freeway. I was thinking, ut oh, because he had a giant mudflap on the left side but the one on the right side was missing. An instant later, I hear this very loud *WHACK!!!*, and sure enough, there was a small (dime-sized) chip/crack in the lower-passenger corner of my windshield. I got it fixed for a little under $70 I think.

You might need to get a new windshield. The guy who fixed mine mentioned that he wouldn't fix it if it were in the line of sight. The repaired crack is not invisible, it's smooth and filled in, but it's opaque.

Any before and after pixs?

I wanted to get mine repaired but the hit was so bad that it was similar to a bullet hole with the spider webs right in my line of sight. Luckily it didn't go all the way through but the windshield replacement was pricey...
