Cylinder 5 injector problems/missfire

Hi guys new to this forum, I’m having real trouble solving a problem with my e93 325i n53 2008. The car has cold start problems and misfires on cylinder 5. Turn it off and on again and it’s okay. Hiccups a little bit between 2/4K after that goes like stink. I’ve replaced plugs and coils and no difference, I bought INPA and read the rough running and injector 5 was in the red. So I’ve changed it and coded it in. And it’s still in the red! I clear the faults it runs great then 5 seconds later back to lump idle. When warm it runs okay , little bit of a lumpy idle but nothing major. Now I’m getting a code from inpa for the fuel pressure sensor positive to short? Could this be my problem? Surely it would affect all injectors not just 5? Really stuck. Thanks jack.

Sounds like the injector has been leaking. Sad to say a faulty injector will wreck the others in that bank so you'll probably need to replace injectors 4 and 6 too (if you can't afford all six).

Thank you for the reply, the values in inpa show injector 4 and 6 are very good on idle but 5 is well high on idle then goes steady when holding revs, I’m getting various codes, the ones that keep popping up are pre cat bank 2 , post cat bank 2 , fuel pressure sensor short , but now I’ve cleared them see what comes back up in the morning and I’ll report back!

Your car has high pressure fuel pump due to it being DI (n53). I am not familiar with HPFP failure symptoms, but they should be the same as on 335. Look into it, as it could be a possible issue.

Well I think I may have found the fault, injector is running as it should now I think anyway, still getting codes and cold start problems not as bad, the fuel trim bank 2 is negative -8 and -30%!!!!! Which isn’t good, getting code for 02 sensors and fuel sensor 29f3 which apparently is low fuel pressure sensor electrical. So going to replace this sensor and see what happens!

Did you remember that in rough running menu cylinders are listed in firing order, not their physical placement?
