Protective Film installer in Seattle Area

Expecting my e92 M this week from BMW Seattle. I saw the protective sheets they had installed at the dealer and wasn't very impressed but I've never had a protector installed before.

Can anyone offer a recommendation for a shop in Seattle?

Thanks

Nick

Looked on the Venture Shield web site and looked for installers in the seattle area. Ultimate Auto Skin was rated "three stars" (highest on the web site), so I called Matt and set up a time to have the clear bra installed. I take delivery on June 18th and will likely have the install done the next day.

I talked to him over the phone and he sounded like he was experienced in doing full hood and fenders. Another bonus was that he was mobile and willing to do the install at my house. His contact info is:

Ultimate Auto Skin
Contact: Matt Rutherford
Serving the Greater Seattle Area
Washington
Phone: 425-328-6846
Website: www.ultimateautoskin.com
Email: matt@ultimateautoskin.com

Hope that helps.

We've heard good stuff about Metropolitan from other forums. Whoever you choose, just be sure to look at the final product in person.

Thanks for the posts. I'm waiting for my car to make it up here from the VPC. I'll continue to read up but some of the things I've seen on forums strongly recommend venture shield vs. 3M.

Will report back when I figure out what I'm doing but please keep me posted too.

Cheers,

Nick

OMS I was wondering how much the quote was from Ultimate and how long the install and dry will take? Taking delivery myself somewhere around the same time as you. The quote I heard for ventureshield at Metropolitan detail was ~$2500 for full hood/fenders.

Smoke and Beers, I got a quote for $1500 from Ultimate and he said it would take about 6 hrs, don't know about the dry time. Metropolitan also quoted me $2500. I also like the fact that Ultimate is a mobile service and I don't have to leave my car overnight.

Thanks!

Awesome! Thanks my friend. Also nice to avoid the friggin' Scion xB rental with the flame paint job. Curious as to if you will be tinting and if so where you're doing that?

Are you on the Boheme or Phoenix Leader by chance? Or already at VPC?

Smoke and Beers, I will not be tinting the car, just the venture shield. I was on the Falstaff, my car arrived at the dealership late last week. I won't be picking her up until I move to Seattle area Mid June.

You can also try mirrorworks. I just took delivery of my e92 M3 today...should put together a meet once we get a few more members taking delivery of their cars!

I am inclined to not do the clear bra. It is expensive and I do not do a lot of highway driving in traffic. For $2500 dollars I can repaint the bumper and hood etc. in a few years. I also am not fond of detailing around the clear bras.

I had my clearbra done today and I think it turned out great...def better than any of the other clearbras I have had on my previous cars. i did not do a full wrap though as a lot of you guys are planning. Just the entire front bumper, 1/4 way up the hood and fenders, headlights, front of mirrors. The line on the hood and fenders is almost invisible since the car is alpine white. Material used was ventureshield. Overall very happy with how it turned out.

PunjabiM3,

Who did the install? Cost?

Would be great if you can post pics. I'm still on the fence. Want to feel really confident about installer.

I do get them but in odd places. I just don't see the point unless I am going to wrap my car. The only issue I can think of is the track as I am really getting interested in lapping and other driving events.

There is no competition. The special care and custom installations of Metropolitan Detail are worth every penny. Doing Venture Shield mobile is not a benefit to you. Metropolitan Detail does all their clear masks on a vehicle hoist, so they are not bending over on the ground, they are eye to eye with the film on any part of the car. They've done all mine, and perfect every time.

Your assertion is incorrect according to pictures on their own website: http://www.metropolitandetail.com/gallery.html

I have Matt from Ultimate Auto Skin in my garage right now and will report back on the work once he's finished.

Not saying that Metropolitan does not know their stuff. I have heard nothing but good references. But it's apparent that if doing the car on a lift makes for a higher quality job they don't always do it. And their quote is $900 higher for the same custom job as Ultimate.

That's interesting, they used a lift on my car. Maybe that's an old pic?
