Has anyone made a Mod they've later regretted ...

Howdy folks!

You may have noticed me in there here parts of late as I've been pondering, now I've pulled the trigger and ordered a new M240i to replace my beloved E46 330Ci ZHP.

My E46 doesn't have that many mods, just the ones that came with the ZHP package and dinan exhaust (she sounds lovely!)

Seeing as I really and truly wanted the M2 ... but reasons ... I'll likely want to put some of the common mods in the new car.

So here's my question for y'all:

Was there any mod you got for your car but then later wish you hadn't?

Things I could think of (and fear) are situations like:
  • You've lowered your car and now speed bumps and some driveways are now a challenge
  • A part you added became problematic and isn't under warranty
  • An expensive mod didn't really get you that much "extra" / wasnt' worth the price
  • Exhaust mods caused you to fail smog check / isn't legal in CA
  • A part wore out / broke quickly

Here is what is currently on my Wish List:
  • ONE DAY M DRIVER’S PROGRAM
  • REMUS Sport Exhaust for 2016+ BMW M240i with Resonated Catback
  • DINANTRONICS Sport Tuner for the BMW F22/F23 M240i
  • Genuine BMW F22/23 2 Series M Performance Double Spoke 405 19" Wheel/Tire Set
  • Genuine BMW F22/23 M235i, M240i M Performance Limited Slip Differential
  • BAVSOUND - Stage 1 Premium Speaker Upgrade Kit
  • BAVSOUND - Ghost Underseat Subwoofer Upgrade Kit
  • Dinan Carbon Fiber Cold Air Intake
  • Dinan Performance Spring Set for BMW F22

I think I've scoured this board for discussions and I think all the items on the list look like they are fairly well recommended. But thought it couldn't hurt to ask!

No regrets at all with any mod I've done on the car. Only thing I think I would've done differently is just do a muffler/resonator delete + catless downpipe. Would've saved $2k, even if the AWE sounds better imo.

Your mod list looks great, I would recommend looking into more aggressive tuning options such as JB4 or Active Autowerke instead of Dinan. The M240i with JB4 + downpipe and a dialed-in coilover setup will absolutely demolish an M2, and sound better doing it.

Downpipe, pointless with stock turbos and fuelling and causes throttle closures

I would recommend this as well, cheap and a great mod.

It would certainly be the cheapest mod! If it make it shift like a E46 ...

Never felt the clutch on an E46 but compared to stock it makes a big difference. I took one of the washers off though. Less than 2 minutes install too, no need to take anything apart.
