I'v used 3 vendors plates.
Vorshag on my EVO X. TC Kline on my E36M3 and Ground Control on my other E36. All are awesome. Pick one.....

Camber plate questions
I have never used camber plates and considering getting them for several upcoming track days. Having no experience with them would like to know if they are adjusted at track for the camber you want. When returning home (DD) do you return them to the original settings prior to going to track? Or do you just have them set at say -1.5 and leave them at that setting for both track and street. Also was curious about the noise some people experience. Is this because of the monoball bearing? What causes the noise/vibrations.

My front is set at 2.7 degrees of camber and zero toe. I do not change between street and track setup, really just because I'm lazy to work out the effect on toe when you change the camber. So far, I've not noticed any adverse tire wear from the added camber. In fact, because I've been running sport cup 2s as a dual purpose track/street setup, the outside edges have been wearing out far quicker than the inside edges. This upcoming season I plan to leave the camber as is but run standard PSS on the street only and have a dedicated track wheel/tire setup, so will be interesting to see if the camber affects the PSS while street driving. |

Are you all using the GC plates with the stock suspension?
Thanks. Chet

Ground Control plates
I'm installing GC plates on my stock suspension set up. I'm running Michelin PSC2 tires. Looking for 2.5deg neg camber full time. I'll let you know how the set-up comes together - my car is not a DD and will see 10-12 track events/year

I've been using GC camber plates in all of my M cars. Good customer support if you purchased them from Bimmerworld. The GC plates will be use with the performance coilover.

You'll need more camber if you're running an aggressive pace and hope to get a full season out of the fronts. I was at 2.7 degrees (full time) and corded them in half the days. Lots of meat was left in the center and inner area of the tires.

GC + Stock Suspension - Question on Camber/Toe
I’m getting GC plates installed this week on stock suspension, intending to go -2.75 camber up front.
Will be running new Apex 18” FL-5s square on 265/35/18 RE-71Rs for track-only days this year. First track event is 3/10-11 and will run another 8-10 days this year. I drive about 2k miles/year outside of the track on OE PSS tires. Any thoughts on this camber setting? Too conservative at -2.75? Any thoughts on toe settings up front? |

Take it easy on the new tires in the first session, then build up speed and aggressiveness thru the day. Keep an eye on the tire wear, but most importantly pressures. The 71R gets greasy above 36psi hot. You should be able to see how wear is looking after the first day. Then, switch front to rears for the second day and watch how wear progresses. You’ll have your answer by the end of the weekend, but I think you’ll be fine. As for toe, for the track you want zero toe. I ran that way most of last year, but my car is also a DD and it wondered a decent bit on the highway. I went 0.04” toe in which is still good enough for the track and just enough to cut down the constant corrections driving on the street. Have fun. |

Does anybody adjust their camber plates back for street or just leave them alone once dialed in for the track?
I'm thinking of doing the same setup as GVN*2FLY for track events.

Ready to go for 2 track days this weekend!
Got my new 18" ET28 FL-5s with square 265/35-18 RE-71Rs mounted with GC Camber plates at -2.75 degrees negative camber and am ready to go. Fitment is great and the test drives have gone well. I'm most surprised by the differences between the RE-71s and front OEM 245/35-19s, both the width and how 'round' the MPSS is compared to the 'squared-off' RE-71 is stark (top pic). Overall, very excited to get these on the track.
Will let everyone know how it goes in a few days. |
