Did sam's club screw up with TPMS?
Hello,
2006 BMW 325XI here. I had Sam's Club put on some winters tires. My TPMS sensor indicator appeared. I cleared did it thinking it just needed reset after new tires. It has not come back on for approx 1-2 weeks. Shortly afterwards I noticed that I not longer have metal valves. They appear be soft rubber now. Again, TPMS warning has not came back on. Is it possible they damaged a TPMS sensor, removed them, and replaced with rubber inserts? Could they have just put rubber nubs (excuse my lack of anatomy terminology) on my current TPMS hardware? Thanks all, I'll give the supervisor a call soon should any of you feel I need compensated. Just confused as to why TPMS warning has not come back on, so maybe I am actually good to go. |

2006 E90's have a hub based TPMS system rather than a valve/sensor based system. The system measures the outer diam of the tires via rotation - if one tire is spinning too slow, it assumes that tire is low on air. 07+ have physical sensors in the wheels/tires. Hearing you have the rubber stems and no TPMS light confirms this (always good to check). You're good to go as-is
If you had physical TMPS in the wheels beforehand, they weren't actually active with the computer. If you're sure you did have the sensors, I would definitely retrieve them, and maybe sell them here on the forums (if they have a P/N on them that can be referenced).

Thank you very much. I called BMW and gave them my VIN. They're saying I should be ok and that they see the rubber ones on their diagram. Maybe my corvette is the car with the metal valves. I could be crazy. Thank you guys very much.

LCI or at least 11's had the valve sensors.... and would flawlrssly sync up with takeoffs off of other recent bimmers, without any action on your part.
Maybe you DID have valve sensors that a previous owner or tire installer got, whether thinking they were necessary or just came that way with the wheels |
