Need help adding wire to fusebox

I'm jus about done retrofitting the oem alarm, everything was pretty straight forward thanks to roxxor again, my final step is adding the double leaf spring contact to the fuse box. I'm trying to add it to fuse 103, it doesn't have any wires going to it but does already have fuse jus like roxxor in his tutorial. My question is when adding the contact do I jus slide it in the top or bottom (see pictures) or do I have to remove the harness first then add the contact and re insert the connector? When I try to slide it in it doesn't feel very secure, I dunno if I'm doing something wrong or if I have to lift a tab or something while inserting the contact like u have to do when adding contacts in other connectors. I hope that makes sense and I apologize for the newb question, I swear I'm better than this I jus rather ask before messing something up since the connection did not feel good. If no one can help I will out a volt meter to it I jus rather not rite away since again the connection felt loose. . This my first real retro besides the auto dim interior mirror. Next is lci full led headlights to replace my ugly halogens, already got the lights jus need some modules. Any help would b greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

You have to slide in the contact in the top chamber and it has to click into place.
If it is locked, you can not pull it out so easily again.
If it is not locked, you can pull it out.

Gonna try tomorrow or after the eagles game tonight GO EAGLES!! 🏈🦅
Do I need to lift a tab for it to slide into place like other connectors or just slide in? Thanks again?
Almost damaged other contacts before I figured that out lol

Just slide it in and it should lock automatically if it is the right double leaf spring contact.

Idk wtf is going on, maybe wrong size? I doubt it I have them the exact part number listed. Should the fuse b removed first?lol It's driving me crazy, jus about done n this simple (what should be simple) step is holding me up. I feel like I'm about to break the contact trying to force it in!!

Please try to turn the contact by 90°.
The fuse does not have to be removed.

Thank you!! But shit I think I put it in the bottom row. I'm legit jus putting car back together now. After I removed the connector it was nice n easy to side in. I was trying to slide it while everything was connected n proved quite difficult.

It works!! God that was such a pain. Thank u for hanging in there with me. One last question lol I didn't have to code the car with the alarm option? I jus locked the door and heard the chirp. Should I go ahead and code it anyway or leave it alone since it's working?

Well I guess I answered my own question because in I drive I don't have option for alarm tone on n off while locking. At the very least I should code it anyway for that. Again thank you. I played with the connector so much the skinny part between the wire and contact broke and I had to solder it back together. Lol smh

I apologize a lot, but you're right.
I just found a picture on ebay, where you can see that the contact belongs in the bottom row.
I was probably confused that the right contact was in the top row and on my old pictures from another retrofit the contact was also in the top row.

Currently struggling through the installation myself. As per the very first photo submitted by op, you connect the double leaf spring in the bottom right, correct? (103) I’m trying to connect their but the double leaf spring is not locking in place. Did you need to remove that piece from the fuse box in order to lock it in? If so- how?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’ve been working on my f30 for a while but electrical work and wiring is fairly foreign to me.

Have you tried rotating it?
I am also wondering how to remove the actual connector that these contacts go in. I can pop up the red tab but it doesn't seem to loosen the anything, no matter how hard I pull it doesn't seem to come out, is there something I'm missing?

To answer both your and my question - you don't need to remove the connector at all, although it makes it easier to line things up and make sure it's seated properly. To remove the connector, pull up on the red tab and then push a screw driver between the plastic housing next to the red tab and the actual plastic of the power distribution box. There's a tab here which won't allow you to pull it out if you don't depress it.
You just need to make sure you have the double leaf spring contact lined up correctly, it makes it easier to see what direction this is to have the whole connector removed as you can see the bottom. If you're putting it in the wrong slot - I.E. you're putting it in the top slot instead of the bottom or the wrong top slot (there is no tab attached to the other dual leaf spring contact) it won't connect to anything and you've probably got the wrong one.

Just added a wire yesterday. Follow what he said n I don't kno if u HAVE to take out the connector to add the wire but I did n was easier than I thought it would b. I had to use some force because of the rubber around the wire but it clicked in nicely n have power to my side bolsters now. Goodluck.

Hello,

I’m trying to make a start on removing the wiring ahead of my MPE being removed this weekend and I can’t for the life of me get the spring clip released.

I’ve tried jamming a screwdriver in from all angles and still nothing.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Terry
