Smile Joined the M2 club ;-)

Hi guys,

I just grabbed a bargain, traded in my F25 LCI X3 20d xDrive (carbon black) with M Sport Package for a F87 M2 (pre-LCI) DCT (wife cannot drive manual so I compromised...) in long beach blue.

Personally I really hated SUV/SAV, didn't know why we bought the car in the first place (impulse consumption? I seemed to have a history of good at doing this...)

The M2 has only done 9000KMs, built in Oct 2016, it's pretty much new and comes with all options I need. Cannot wait to pick it up this week.

A question for Aussies car enthusiasts, do you put opti-coat treatment on the car? Which service provider do you recommend? I live in Sydney. TIA.

Thanks!

Something that surprised me when testing driving it: the M2 in comfort mode does a much better job running over speed humps than the X3 (20' wheel with Run Flat tyres...).

Oh man, the N55B30T0 is amazing. I think it has much more power than I ever need, so I am not looking for a M2 CS or M4 in 5-6 years, no way... ;-)

Congrats on your new purchase mate.

Just in case you weren't aware, if the M2 in Comfort mode does a better job dealing with bumps than the X3 it will also do a better job in Sport & Sport +, the M2 does not have adaptive suspension so the ride will feel the same in all modes.

As for the Opticoat i have it on my car and can't recommend it enough, unfortunately I'm not in Sydney so can't help with a detailer.

No worries, mate. I got a good service provider based on word of mouth. They happened to just released a new video on a long beach blue M2 with DCD 4 layers, the owner - Frank told me this product is 70% better than Opti-Coat Pro+ (wow!) and they don't do Opti-Coat any more based on customer feedback.

In case you are interested:

I'll most likely pick up the car tomorrow.

Picked up yesterday, I was so excited. My wife and kids all love this car, to my surprise (good on me tho) ;-)

Will post some photos (need to smudge the rego...).

BTW: What comprehensive insurance do you have with the M2? Some insurers don't even offer online quote for M2. I got the cheapest from Bingle for about 1500/y.

Some photos (with plate masked)

More to come later, too excited to do this...

More pictures to come, the M2 just finished the DCD 4 layer paint protection treatment (together with a 997 911 GT Manual limited - wow).

I'll need to mask the plate number and share it here later.

DCT or manual? I don’t know too many who have gone for manual (like me) and I’m actually quite surprised by it

Hi

Terry congrats on the purchase.

Highly recommend David's Automotive Detailing for Opticoat...I have a M2 LCI in BSM and he did a great job on paintwork, wheels and exterior.

Highly recommend snow job, two bucket hand wash, and towel dry with a drying aid for maintenance.

Cheers
Shanil
