If I'm not mistaken one of the cars is wearing the 5 spoke wheels. I think it looks better. If only they came in 20's.

Would have been better if they had used the OEM gas tank.

On a side note, does anyone know where to get the license plate highlighted in the below pic? Would be great to have for track days and photoshoots.

Always amazes me the amount of negativity on topics like this around here......:

Having had him as an instructor right as the record was broken we should all want them to do what's necessary to take it back!

Who cares how they do it as long as they do it! Pretty neat idea and totally ups the ante while doing it!

How is drifting real world applicable? I thought this was an executive class sedan? I see more drifting advertised for this car than I have for any previous M5 before. Then dumb kids try to replicate drifting and hurt themselves or someone else. I just saw on Instagram today some kid drifting his Mustang then slamming into a bunch of people. Yeah, drifting is so cool and impressive, lol.

So you're telling me if they did this in a base 3 series you would like it more?

I assume you also believe in public transit and that we should all walk or bike to school and work??

this comment just proves how similar the cars are...for of course more than 2x the price.

Would be nice if they gave an estimated time on fueling. I watched Johan for 5 mins at lunch and even that was a bit much of seeing him go around, and around, and around, and around.

The fueling procedure would be the really cool part to see.

I will say he is an AWESOME guy and highly entertaining. His "in race" commentary when two amateur students are messing around at 15mph is hilarious.

first of it can be cool and imprrssive as long as nobody else is around to get hurt. secondly dont compare buyer of like a 2004 mustang to a car that will be like 140 or more after tax.... there is no "kid" buying it and anyone that can afford to make such a purchase i assume has a brain smart enough to know not to do that kind of stuff near others.

I'm saying it's not real world applicable. When the hell am I gonna drift an M5 in the real world?.. only a few percentile of owners will even track their M5. Obviously BMW is just using this for advertising, which I think is dumb, they should be able to find better things to exhibit with the new M5 then.. oh, it can drift!! So you must buy it!

I want to see things that are real world applicable, i.e. handling, power, fun to drive, talk about how you can't fee the 4,000+ pounds, how it's an executive sedan all your friends will envy, how it's 2 cars in one, etc. etc.

It's a marketing stunt for sure but automobile companies have always done stuff like this. Take the BMW M1 and VW Jetta TDI race circuits.
