Bimmercode App - UK

Hi all,

Anyone used Bimmercode app on a UK M2?

Any good things you can do with it to make it worth the money??

Thanks!

Yes, I use it.

Works perfectly.

Here is a list of what I have done.

Disabled Auto Stop/Start being enabled by default
Lights under door handles illuminate on reverse
Warning sounds changed to BMW i
Turned off bulb monitoring on the rear light clusters due to fitting LED bulbs
Video In Motion
Video codecs

And a few others I cant remember.

Well worth the money and a lot easier than messing about with E-Sys!!

That sounds decent!

I very much like the idea of stopping start stop! Ha

With my Audi it (Carista was the app for that) would kill the feature completely. Does BMW start / stop still work if you press the button after modifying with Bimmercode?

Also, how do BMW see tweaks like this from a warranty standpoint? I think with Audi it was a bit questionable, I imagine this is much the same.

Can you take a somewhat 'backup' of the entire config before messing? Or is that with e-sys only?

Thanks!

Start/Stop still works after coding, its just off every time you turn on the ignition.

Not so sure about warranty issues, after all, your not changing anything permanently, can easily be put back.

Bimmercode app automatically backs up the cars config before coding. This is stored on the device running Bimmercode, in my case, thats my iPad.

That's awesome! Carista told me they've actually got some tweaks in their beta version for F87 but I'm hesitant. Would much rather use bimmercode which seems more likely to work and takes a backup which Carista didn't do

I dont have any experience with Carista.

Bimmercode is easy to use and is well priced. I highly recommend it.

DoZZa do you really need the below as their website states??

https://www.amazon.com/Vgate-Scanner...15715fc91727ce

With Carista you could use any bluetooth or wifi adapter that was suitable for ELM327 v1.4.

Obviously I understand if this app only works with wifi, but still any wifi OBD should do the job surely? Or do I actually need the Vgate? Reason being I already have a generic wifi one, so don't want to buy another - but also don't want to subscribe to the app to find the one I have won't work lol

I have the VGate one, cost me about £20 from Amazon.co.uk.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01CG0XWDI

I have no idea if a generic Wi-Fi OBD adapter will work with BimmerCode app. Perhaps ask the developer.

He can be contacted here info@bimmercodeapp.com

########
EDIT: Working perfectly, I missed the actual "code" button... Great and quick response from Stephan at BimmerCode!
########

I got this all earlier (app and VGate). Made a change just before going out.

Changed start stop to disabled by default. Then exited the app.

It hasn't worked though.

Engine was on while I was coding as I'd read here about people saying the ignition could switch off if the engine isn't started.

Any ideas why it didn't work? Do you have to 'apply' anything? Or just click the option you want?

Will try again later otherwise

Thanks

You need to press start/ stop once so ignition is on but not depress clutch to turn engine on. It will not code if engine is on. I did the same thing the first time I used it.

Very easy to use once you get used to it and I like the fact you can return to default settings if needed.
